Hello everyone, today I came across this Hoover Decade 800. Anyone have any information on these machines? It runs and looks great

Joe,

You're welcome. Do you have other Hoovers, too, or is this one your first? 20 bucks is an awesome price--especially in such great condition! Did you get the owner's manual and attachments, too? If not, you might want to google it or go Ebaying.

I used to have an older Hoover--I think it was a 1975 (somewhere on the handle I found a circle with the digits "75" inside, so I'm guessing that was the year; it fit with my research anyway). I ended up giving it to my niece, because my focus is Electroluxes. Right now I'm strapped for cash, but if I had some extra money I'd probably include some other brands like Kirby and Hoover.

No manuals, I have mainly Hoover Convertibles. I have one erureka boss 1934A but not sure what to do with it yet. I think the motor is burnt out, it ran for several seconds then I smelt a burnt smell then quit. They still sell these for 100.00 but the motor itself us 65-80.00

Great Machines

These are mid/ late 1980's from what I remember. There are a bunch of these on Vacuumland, and somewhere on Vacuumland is an actual poster for one too, of the Hoover sheets, like what department stores would get for information on product lines to carry.
Type A Hoover cloth bag. Air freshener compartment. Slide it for varied strength of smell. Pull it up for replacing with fresh tablet from Hoover, Micro Clean or other manufacturer. Should be 6.5 Amp motor I believe. Dual headlamps that wrap around-- probably the coolest looking headlight on any vacuum ever!!

Originally would have come with a tool set. Tool set would be Convertible style with adapter clipping onto bottom plate beneath agitator cavity. Tool set would have come with upholstery nozzle, crevice tool, long hose, extension wand and adapter.

Belt is Hoover style 48, same as Convertible. Agitator would also be Convertible style. Original brush roll was single row red bristles, and a beater bar.

Powerswitch is 3 position. Off, On, and Power Surge mode. I think you have to hold the switch for power surge mode, not sure if that locks or not?

Power cord length should be 35' and top cord hook swivels. This model was available in the black that you have, a blue and also burgundy color under the Hoover Supremacy line.

Good luck on the machine. It's possible if you post serial number, someone might be able to get a manufacturer date for you.

Thank you for the information. I just discovered that the cord hanger does turn lol. I think that's cool.

Sure does lol. Must have been serviced there . They do great work. I'm thinking about having the motor replaced in my Eureka Boss 1934A but it might cost a lot and not worth it since a brand new one cost 100.00 :)
