My Hoover Model 29 finally got here and I've done a little cleaning on it. It has the original bag but it has one or two pinholes at the bottom and I have an iron-on patch to fix that with. It sounds like its brand new. The handle has a slight lean to it and I know that that's a common problem with the 60 series but I was wondering if there was a good way to fix it. The pic is the one from eBay, I will post the actual ones soon.

Gorgeous!

I'm still trying to find a new outer bag for my 62. My vac shop gave it to me about four years ago. It's in only OK shape, but it runs like a top! I have the original bag, but it's in very poor condition.

If your model 29 is like my model 62

You might want to look at where the handel assembly is riveted to the main vacuum housing. the rivets may be wore loose allowing it to slop around. I had to drill the rivet out and I replaced it with a screw and nylon lock nut. screw head from inside the housing exhaust and the nylon lock nut on the top of the handle assembly. I think I had to file the nut face down so it was not so high as there were clearance issue. Bill,

Thank you all! I have been VERY occupied with work lately as it is our busy season, so, sorry to all that I havent talked to in a while. Here's a pic of the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. It's so cool that it's still here after all these years.

I love that you're having fun with the mothimizer!!!! I'll be sending you the manuals to accompany the tools soon...looks like I might've found a brown veriflex hose and tool kit to match the 29 as well!! :)

Hooverboy81...

I'm not just having fun with the Mothimizer, I'm having fun with all of it!😃 I also really can't wait to try it with the Hoover Original Scent Tabs! A set of 29 tools would be awesome as well😙 I really can't thank you enough for all of help, generosity, and sincere friendship 😘

The New Genuine Hoover Replacement Cord Strain Relief

Again, thanks to one of my best friends Jonathon, my model 29 is another step closer to completion. After 20 minutes and dropping the F-bomb a few times Lol, I managed to get the cord restraint into place, i also now have a 32" red Kirby cord (another very generous gift) to use on this cleaner making it much more functional. Next part of the project is probably tackling where the handle pivots as it sits slightly crooked in the upright position. Again Jonathon, I can't possibly thank you enough for all you've done😙

No thanks needed! I enjoy our friendship tremendously, and helping you make your 29 a daily driver is the least I can do! I know the cord/switch debacle was maddening! Let me know when you're ready to change the handle control bolt and I'll walk you through it. Much easier than it sounds! Trust me! You do an amazing job restoring your cleaners by the way! Excellent attention to detail! Looking forward to speaking with you soon! 😊 Also, thank you for everything you've done for me! Means more than you know!

@vintagevaclover I only got one of five I had of the type of strain relief in reply 21 installed successfully and ended up breaking the rest of the five. What are the steps to do these strain reliefs right?
Thank you very much for your help

Cord Strain Relief

You're gonna laugh, but I used Astro-Glide and flat head/blade screw driver to guide it into place then threaded the new cord through it and tied a knot in the cord behind the strain relief for some extra strength. I can't take credit for all that though, that idea is from Jonathon Radesky (HooverBoi81). He always has lots of little tricks to make things like that easier 😃
