Don't you miss your Windtunnel? I know the American models are 10x better.

I do ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was only interested in fantoms at that point. I'm looking for another one on craigslist. They are better!!!!! I also hate the cheap filters most hoover uprights have nowadays, like my aunt's tempo has. Altough, I beleive the hoover tempo is the best vacuum you can buy for under 100 dallars. It beats many of my own vacuums.

I heard there is also the Hoover Twin-Chamber vacuum froom 2000. I used to own one when I was little, and it was my first bagless vacuum. It got replaced with a Eureka Smart Vac in 2003.

What do you think of that Elite Cyclonic canister. I saw a video of one on Youtube and it sounded great and looked like it did a good job. However I've seen some bad reviews online and an associate at Sears told me that they got returned a lot. Very nice Dimension 1000, I love those Quadraflex powermatics.

Which Windtunnel did you have. There are several of upright and canister.

Why would the Elite Cyclonic be returned a lot? Fantomlightning, what do you think of the Elite Cyconic canister? I know you love Elites.

The Sears rep said they were poor quality and people didn't like them. He said he wouldn't advise his worst enemy to get one. I saw it in the store and actually kinda liked it, but I never tried it out or turned it on. It needs a bare floor brush as do all of Hoover's bagless cyclonic canisters.

I'm betting Hoover went in the wrong direction with the Elite cyclonic canister.

My windtunnel was the self propelled ultra model. Myvacsrock has the same one. Here is the story about the hoover. I bought it a target in september 2010. I wanted one brand new vacuum for my collection. I wanted a canister, and this one appealed to me. Anyway, It was used alot when i got it, and then, I had about 7 or 8 vacuums. Now, I have 48, and it gets used about 2 times a month. After tax, I paid $215 dallars for it. Biggest vacuum mistake. If you ask me, if it cost $100 dallars, it would be a great value, but at $215, I should of bought a lower end kenmore canister, or a commercial hoover elite. For $215, you do get a floor brush, but that it the only "acceptable" attachment. The crevice tool and dusting brush are so small, and if you ask me, you're better off using tools off another hoover. Most hoover canister and uprights will have better tools to fit this. Here are the pros and cons of it, by the way, it hasn't broken yet, as I am babying it for the money I scraped up to buy this. I'm ticked off that hoovers selling it for $150 now!!!!
Pros:
-no bags
-great suction
-good carpet cleaning
-adjustable wand
Cons:
-cheap plastic
-motor gets very hot (but it needs a new hepa filter)
-filters have to be washed after every use,carbon filter is not washable
-bulky design makes it heavy, unconveinient to carry, and not easy to store
-wimpy headlight on powerhead-too far back on the powerhead
-mediocre attachments at best
-poor value, they should include better attachments, and a turbo nozzle.
Its not a horrible vac, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I'm betting the 90's Elites are better machines, and made back when Hoover was awesome.

I love the dimensions too!!! I got this one at my high school sale, early this year. It was only $10, and it had all of it's attachments, but the brushroll was stuck because their was soo much hair stuck around it. I later found that the bearing were bad too. I had it fixed, and I think I put about 50 to 60 dallars into it, but I know it's worth more than that. The vac shop guy said you could sell the hose itself for 70 to 80 dallars alone!!!! Anyway, I think its very cool, as I beleive this was one of the first vacuums ever to have very advanced electronic parts. Based on the serial number, I think this dimension 1000's from
1989.

oohhhh yes!!! even the vacuum shop agreed when I brought my elite in. He said, "oh yea, these are great".

Hoover also had some 90's canisters, such as the Futura, Supremacy, and Sprint, with the Spirit.

Yea, I think i'd like anything hoover from the early-mid 2000's and back.

I miss my Soft and Light, it was an Elite clone. That died when I was 10 years old.

The Elite Cyclonic resembles a cross between a Dyson dc23, a XXX Vortecyclonic & a Eureka World Vac.

How well does the EC perform? I'm thinking about buying one; hopefully it's better than the Vortecyclonic?

Well, his EC isn't that bad, but due to some design flaws, he ain't buying a new unit again.

The elite cyclonic isn't horrible, but i would stick with a windtunnel canister, or the lower end kenmore canisters.

Windtunnel canister...better idea. Ever heard of the Duros? I saw it in Costco when I was younger.
