You asked on the off topic forum about the year. My guess is 1965 or early 66. I am basing that on the US model 70, on which Hoover changed the Hoover emblem from the larger, more sturdy badge to a puny decal in 1966. I assume the same occurred with the Canadian models, though I don't know that for a fact.

Anyhow, you have quite a beauty there.

How do I change the lightbulb?

"How many vacuum cleaner collectors does it take to change a light bulb?"

Thirteen:

1. One to admonish that the bulb should not be changed, because that's how Aunt Clarice always used hers.

2. One to research the vacuum cleaner model, down to the serial number, to make sure the correct bulb is secured.

3. One to rummage through vac shops and thrift stores looking for a NOS bulb.

4. One to remove the old bulb, wrap it in bubble wrap and seal it to save it. Because it's original.

5. One to put a soft towel on the work table to prevent the hood from getting scratched.

6. One to open the hood and remove it.

7. One to hand over the NOS bulb still in its original packaging, shedding a tear or two as he opens it.

8. One to insert the bulb and re-assemble the machine.

9. One to clean and polish the housing to make it all pretty.

10. One to plug it in and turn it on.

11. One to go outside and listen to it run from the front yard.

12. One to take photos of the entire procedure and submit an article to the VCCC newsletter.

13. One to present a blue ribbon for the most authentic, historically informed restoration job.

if you flip the machine over there are two screws that hold the hood to the base

Not on the Canadian Models....

The Canadian models have thumb screws. One on the left one on the right. See highlighted picture for information.

Once the hood is removed, install a 15 WATT light bulb.
