My Hoover Vortex Of Sorts

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

They are really nice sturdy cleaners, nothing stops them from picking up the bits off the carpet and hardfloors.

ozhoover - I really love your collection of them, Let ME be the first to know if you have to sell anything, I would pay a decent price for a NIB so badly! Feel free to email me :p Hehe

gottahaveahoove- Who wouldn't?

Baglessball- What was the filter set up like on the hurricane, was the filter above or below?

Jakesvacs

Both. It has the same pleated filter below the bin, and another that sits on top of the shroud. If I remember right you removed the bin, and then had to twist the shroud a quarter turn to remove it, the smaller pleated filter would be sat on top of the shroud with a inner foam liner. Fine dust would drop everywhere. It was such a messy vacuum to keep clean!

Hi Alex, I believe that is the way its supposed to look. I think this was just a basic model at the time. Think I should compare the Dyson and Hoover?

omg I am well jel now....

I would love to try the vortex and now seeing those four in you picture mark, I want, I want, I want LOL I hope to get one some time.

Personally I would chose the dyson for cleaning. DC01's and carpet only models have 3 rows of bristles instead of two. Which I have found has made quite a difference when shifting pet hair..

I do like the vortex. If I was choosing a model of vacuum with activator brushroll for cleaning carpet it would be a turbopower.

Hoover v Dyson

I preferred the Vortex over the DC01. The Hoover was more robust, the hose longer, the tools stayed on the cleaner, easier to empty, had handle lock.

The Which? magazine thought it performed effectively too.

I think its very hard to choose between the Dc01 and Vortex , they are almost at two very different ends of the table.
How about when I finish cleaning it out and replacing belts, brushes and filters I start a thread comparing the two on all points.
I might have just spotted another Hoover vortex of sorts for sale near me. I am deffinatly going to have to grab it!

dyson

the dc01 was a huge success my cousin had that same one as u Jake but with a rewind too! :D
the best dyson tbh was dc07 non clutched the dc25 is good for grooming but the rest of it is abit rubbish descent suction etc
