My friends Miele Deep Clean S5

I believe these came out later. They certainly weren't part of the original S5 line-up but I do remember seeing them about, especially in Comet, towards the end of the S5's run.

Is is better than a Henry? because I find Dyson DC08's and Henrys to be hard to beat when it comes to suction wise for a straight suctioned cylinder vac

I have a red pearl limited edition S5211 - the orange one shown I think went under the name of Miele "Koi" as in the fish, hence the orange colour. Still on Amazon UK under the S5298 model number though far too much money there just for the colour change and a free mattress tool. Miele have a bad habit of doing that.

The "Deep Clean" is a bit of a misnomer - still the same 2200 watt motor that the "first in line" Black basic S5211 has and the S5210 before that.

Miele's S5 was the top of the range before the S8 came above to replace it though Miele UK are still selling the S5 range. They're super vacuum cleaners though I wish they had a long cable.

Henry vacs and other Numatics are different to Miele of course - the S5 has a smaller dust bag capacity to Numatic, but then I much prefer using Miele cylinder vacs like the S5 series because everything is on board and you get telescopic height adjustable tubes, quiet power and really easy to use.

"Is is better than a Henry?" It's all down to opinion really, in the commercial market Henry is defiantly better, and if you don't want to spend to much, then go for the Henry. But like Sebo_Fan said, Miele's are better suited to other things.

It's just down to what you want from a vacuum.

OMG I want a MIELE S5 and have you tried a Dc08 with a contact head? WOW!!! 330 AW with SEALED suction! strongest suction at the head, its like your vacuuming your carpets with a large stair tool them types withhot airflow holes

Sorry Steve - totally disagree - and I'll tell you why - the Numatic has better sealed suction than the Miele - the rubberised hole at the bag makes it impossible for dirt to escape compared to the firmer, stiffer plastic cartridge on top of the dust bag in the Miele S5 models. Of course you get some loose dirt in the bag canister of the Numatic, but I wouldn't go as far to say that the Numatic is weaker on suction and Miele dust bags don't keep all the dirt in either. Infact, the Henry suffers from too much suction power hence the hi/lo button and the air bleeder valve at the top. Pushing the floor head across a carpet is tough thanks to the powerful suction and the floor head design on the Numatic. The Miele is different.

It is impossible to compare the two anyway, completely - one is a tub canister vacuum with a 7 litre capacity compared to a more domesticated sledge model with a 5 litre dust bag. See previous thread on here regarding dust on the outer part of the bag and seal of the Miele GN bags.
