I've seen very few pictures of it but I wasn't aware Eureka had some power head canisters in the 2000s. So used to the Mighty Mites. I know in the 80s and 90s they did, but never did I hear of the Home Cleaning System. When was this released? How were they performance wise? Looks like a really nice canister, almost Miele esque.

Sweden’s large multinational Electrolux company bought up many vacuum companies over the decades since the 1970’s. Because of this, they owned the rights to put many different brandnames on many different cleaners (Electrolux, Eureka, AEG, Sanitaire, Volta, Eureka-Forbes in India, Progress, Euroclean, Lux, Viking, Dometic, etc). In the 1990’s, Electrolux started exporting some models from their Swedish Volta company and rebranded them Eureka for sale in North America. These Swedish-made Voltas were often married to American-made Eureka power nozzles to create very good power team canister cleaners to be sold in North America.

This particular Eureka Home Cleaning System is comprised of a Volta “Gemini” canister and a North American Electrolux “Oxygen” power nozzle. The electrified wands created in Bloomington Illinois were notorious for failing as the electrical contacts would burn up when users disconnected them without turning off the vacuum.

Early 2000’s sounds about right. Check Sears catalogues from about that time for details and pricing.

That model launched with the Excalibur line. The green top-of-the-line model was sold in Vac Shops. They used EX bags if I'm not mistaken.

They were sold in Europe as the Progress P49 or the Volta Gemini U2800 series. You can buy synthetic microfiber dust bags for these from Europe. I buy mine from fhp.fi. Click the UK flag in the upper right corner to see the site in English. They are in Finland but ship to the US. The big bummer with these is that the original Swedish motors are non-repairable and when they wear out you're done, unless you can figure a way to finagle a Domel or Ametek motor into one. Also no parts, not even brush rolls for the power nozzle.

That's model 6984 circa 2005. Eureka sold Power nozzle canisters up until about 2017. There were several canisters available at that time including the 6982D which still had the WorldVac power nozzle and not the newer 12" power head that was also branded as the Beam Classic. The last of the Eureka canisters under Electrolux AB was a compact looking yet powerful Eureka Powerline canister. 6833 and similar series shown below.1748665815457.png
