Chris,

This is a wonderful machine! You have a model 886 or 887 that was made from 1988 through 1990.

If it has the external strain relief with the metal spring (that which the main cord you plug in to the wall comes out of), and the 6-blade fan, it was made from 1988 through early February 1990. But if it has the plastic external strain relief and the 9-blade fan, then it was built from late February through October 1990.

It is cool he let you test it out before buying it.

Chris,

I see in the 4th picture that this has the plastic external strain relief, so that would mean your 886 would also have a nine-blade fan, and thus be built sometime from late February to October of 1990.

Chris,

I dig it. As a royal upright fan, I toast to you for a great find at a good price indeed! They are problem free and are fault free

Royal

I’m really enjoying using this machine so far. It’s nowhere near as loud as some on here have said they are. I have a matching Prince hand held... all I need now is the baby blue canister and I’d have a full set!

I have many Royal uprights ranging from 2.8 amp to 8.7 amp motors. I think the 6.0 and later 7.0 amp models are the best overall. Your beautiful 6.0 amp 886/887 offers a nice balance of light weight, strong performance, quiet running, and the attractive light blue color of the 880.

You won't be sorry...

Chris, You will love that Royal. I have six Kirby's and one 10 amp Royal Everlast 8300. I've had my Royal for 4 years now and find that I use it more often than any of my other machines. It simply can't be beat for deep down carpet cleaning! It is lighter and more maneuverable than any of my Kirby's except for my DS50.

Here's a picture of my Royal Everlast:

sptyks...

Very beautiful machine you have!

So far, I’m really enjoying the Royal. It’s a good machine, maneuvers easily and certainly gets the job done!

I can’t help but notice (pictures of your Royal as well as the pretty Sentria in your profile pic) how well polished and clean your vacuums are. Myself, when I come across a new machine, polishing is the first thing that happens - call me crazy, but it really bugs me if they aren’t perfectly shiny.

What polishes do you use, and (both questions for all, really) how often do you polish your machines? I’ve been meaning to ask this question for a while, but always forget.

Thank you for sharing your pictures! Happy vacuuming!

Chris

Umm?

Hey the royals' look awesome. I'm going to go out on a limb they didn't make a 10 amp everlast. Pretty sure they came in 7,7.5 and 9 amp. I'd love an everlast. Every Everlast owner selling seems to know how good they are because none are cheap.

10 Amp Royal Everlast's

The Everlast 8300 has a 10 amp motor. I have an Everlast 8400 that looks identical to the 8300 but has an 8 amp motor. The 10 amp models are the "screamers" you hear about. The 8 amp motor is more relaxed sounding.

I have a 10A Commercail Royal-offhand forget the model-I modified the stock Royal cloth outer bag and feed tube to use Kirby bags-Replaced the orig Royal bag feed tube and horn with a Kirby one-----MUCH-MUCH better!!If you have an extra Royal cloth bag around that uses B bags-try the Kirby bag mod!!!I use the F Kirby bags--the ones with the locking tab collars so the bag doesn't get blown off the bag horn. The big reason I did this is the Filtrete style Royal/Hoover B bags are hard to find and more expensive than the Kirby bags.

They did also make a 12 amp but only very limited quantity as it was way to much and they pulled it from production. I remember at the 08 convention there was a royal guy there with one of those rare beasts.

Those are some beautiful machines! I’m still enjoying my Royal. It’s a great machine! I enjoy how light it is, also how durable and solid it’s built.

I remember making a comment a bit back that I was finished collecting... lol! It’s an addiction - but a fun one and it’s awesome to see everything that fellow collectors have.

Thank you for sharing, and please post more!

I look forward to seeing more photos of everyone’s collections!
