I was browsing the salvation army this afternoon with a friend and from about 30 ft away I spotted a miele, I ran as fast as I could to get it. with a price tag of $7.99 I could not snatch it up any quicker. one attachment and hose, I threw it on the counter, whipped out my card and home it went with me. does not look like it has been used all that much. the model is S251i

Congratulations Mike

I used one of these for 16 years as my daily driver, and even now it still works very well. Here in the UK it was the BOL model although it always got top rating from our Which (think CR) reports. I retired mine for a TOL Miele Revolution 5000 but was surprised that in many ways I found the 251 more convenient. The only drawback was that it did not come with a dusting brush but a "pattern" version soon fulfilled that need. It is a really great cleaner and I hope you get many years enjoyment from it

thanks for the congrats, I found out this afternoon that there is a hook up on the front for a powerhead cable. and that the connection still works. I also found a set of tools on ebay that are generic that will fit the miele for a really cheap price. so far I love the machine, it is extremely powerful, and yet has some really cool features such as the speed control and bag sensor.

here is the link to the attachments.

Mike, Congrats! I know I was excited when I found almost the same model for 20 bucks a few years ago. Hope you can get a power nozzle for it. There's nothing like a Miele... the sound, feel, power.... it's amazing. Hope you enjoy it, and congrats on such a steal!

Here's a video of mine.

hi bobby,
I watched your vid last night, and I must say I love the Kenmore that you have. although it is made by LG it seems like a nice cleaner. the miele, I need to get bags for and the powerhead but for now I am going to get an attachment kit and use that for a while until I get the money for the power head. it really is a nice machine and for 7.99 I could not pass it up, especially because it is an expensive quality machine. I hope that this machine will last me years.

Tools

Mike
I do not believe those are Miele tools - actually there remind me of those supplied with the Hoover/Maytag (Europe) Satellite. The small tools will NOT fit inside the machine. Having said that they may be OK and for $28 does not look like that bad a deal for the complete set. I believe that the dusting nozzle I mentioned earlier came from a Panasonic. Personally, I would take the hose to a Vac store so you can be sure that the tools actually fit.

But it is still a great cleaner :)

Couple your machine with a S-213 power head and you will have one of the best animal hair removal machines out there!

And these Mieles are so quiet. You can actually hear the dirt clinking in the hose as it makes its way into the vacuum.

We have had a Red Star for the past 6 years and it's really been a great machine. It still looks new!

Hi alan
this machine is extremely quiet and I love it as I can vacuum at 1 in the morning and not wake anyone up. I am thinking of getting a powered hose and power head but I will have to do that in the long run as they are pretty expensive.
