My first Dyson ...

Thanks, Kyle...

I'm gonna order it if the one on the machine can't be saved. I've actually been looking for a used Dyson for a while, but they were so expensive that I might as well have bought a new one. What do you want to bet that now that I bought one, they'll come crawling out of the woodwork? :-)

Filters Washable?

Are the filters on this model washable? Someone gave me one of these and it has VERY LITTLE suction. That hose that Kyle listed is jacked up, I'm guessing the filters need to be replaced or washed.

The internal hose for some models just screws into the rubber fitting.

I don't believe it should need to be replaced.

Joe

That would be great! Thank you! I know absolutely nothing about Dyson vacuums. Right now, it's just sitting in my garage in need of some attention. I guess I'll have to dust it off when I get home from vacation.

Congrats on your purchase! Its a fun one to use! I believe it was the last upright (at least for the moment) that lets the dirt spin around in the bin. Very fun to watch. Alot of the Dysons made after the DC07 have these little fin like fingers on the bottom of the bin that keep the debris from swirling. Anyone know if this was to improve filteration efficiency? I'm curious about why they went to that setup.

Anyway its a very versitile machine. If you have short pile carpet then it should clean just fine. The only time the clutch in mine screamed was either when I used it on shag or caught a sock or something in the housing. Other than that it was never an issue.

Yeah I was wondering about the fins, I want to take a wire and get It red hot and melt them off in a clean fashion to see if it would make it any better or not

Yes, I never understood the purpose of the fins either.... I hate them on my DC14.... I like to see the dirt spinning! Congrats though, the DC07s are fun.... the were the first Dyson to hit the US. I like the hose/wand set up on them much better than all the predecessors with that inane telescopic nonsense. I also like that the tools are stored on the machine out of the way and not on the dirt bin. And, the trigger to release the dirt bin instead of a thumb button. I was also thinking that hose could just be reattached unless it is cracked or something.

I think the reason for the fins is

to cut down on the generation of static electricity. If you think about it, the dust, carpet fibers, and pet hair spinning around in the plastic container would generate static electricity, and that would cause it to cling to the walls of the dirt cup and the cyclone assembly when you try to empty it. Then you have to reach in and pull it out. That's the only reason I can think of for them.

I have noticed they let hair and other stringy stuff fall out much easier
But Im going to try it without them one of these days
