Omg. I'm sorry to hear that, & I hope everyone is okay. It's about to hit us soon here but don't know how bad it will get

So I started it once, wasn't much suction .. Took it apart to empty the canister, it was caked with dog hair, and some dog hair in the hose I cleaned it all out .. Started again did some vacuuming, the suction was fixed, however it started to smell, I immediately turned it off. Do you think that was just it cleaning its self out completely? Kind of was a belt burning smell, the vacuum did begin to bog down, I gave it some type disconnected the attachment, turned it back on, it comes on but I went no further than 5 seconds. Just confusing as everything is cleaned out properly and the suction is fine.

Alright .. So I'm pretty sure it was the attachment that was smelling .. Looks like it needs replaced anyway .. I got brave, turned it back on with power brush in the corner .. No smell, no bog, worked fine. So I don't know. More looking before its in use I'd say.

Check the brush roll to make sure there is nothing binding the ends, once that's done put some oil(not dw40) on the end, with your hand manually turn the brush making sure it turns freely. Also check the belt shaft on the motor to see if it turns easy also then put it back together, test it before putting the bottom plate back on & that should take card of it.

The wait begins! You should've seen my Majestic, it was coated in sticky junk! Only bought it for the motor, to put in my Kenmore Duo-Power. Instead I fixed the motor, and the FQ motor went to live in a compact. He got the motor, and I got a 1960s Duo-Power upright!!

I'd have to double-check, but that looks like a later 95x, just before the Triple Crown, so that'd put it at late 80s to early 90s. Still, a very nice machine once you get it cleaned up!

The nice part is that even if it's a little doggy-smelling now, FQs don't have too many places for stench to hide, so they can be easily de-stinked. If stink persists, get a carbon filter cone and stick a few vanilla-soaked cotton balls in the tank.

Also, it looks like it's missing the foam batting muffler/filter around the exhaust vents. Replace that and the felt pad under the cap, and that should kill the last two places reek could be hiding.
