About 8 months ago I decided to buy myself something new, fun, cute and quick.

I bought a 2013 Fiat Abarth. Its an itty bitty little thing, thats for sure. But don't let looks deceive you. This is not just a Fiat 500. Turbocharged 5 speed sporty car! Its loud and quick from the factory. 170 wheel horsepower and this baby will beat any new 2.0 turbo VW and many other small turbo cars with more horsepower, due to the light weight of the Fiat.

I love it. If i baby it, Ill get 38mpg. If I beat on it, and race it, around 30mpg. I took the rear seats out for storage, because there isn't much room!

I plan on adding a tune and ram air intake soon, which will put it at about 240hp, so it will be keeping up with the heavier V8 muscle cars.

I love them...

You arent old enough...but I remember our local dealer who sold Fiats the first time they were in this country, they quit selling them in Lenoir in 74 or 75, but I always liked them.

Keep us posted on your experience with the car. Small, agile cars are what excite me most. You can cane the crap out of them and use what they have on public roads. Using a supercar to even half it's capability risks the BIG CRASH or the BIG ARREST. You can't really use them on a public road, you need a race track.

Wow! I could never live with one of those, I have to pick them out of the grills of our beloved land-barges too often!

Oh well, at-least gas prices won't be trouble for you!

Oh and P.S-you must've got duked at the dealership, it's missing the tail-fins!!

Hey Brandon

That is a awesome car, They are hugely popular here in South Africa you can hardly drive down a street with out seeing a 500 but in a trendy area called Camps Bay were all the beach front restaurants are the 500 Abarth has replaced the normal array of Ferrari's and Lambo's . My wife and I counted 6 the other day in about 500 meters.

Like the Mini this car has universal appeal from both middle class all the way to the super rich who own a few Ferrari's.

Alex those land barge would need to catch up with them first, As the owner of both a Luxoland barge and a small high powered car the small ones outrun the big ones buy far. My land barge has 3 times the engine capacity of my pocket rocket and is no slouch itself but it cant compete with the power to weight ratio of the smaller car. I had my one debadged of all the go faster signs so it looks like a bog standard one till I floor the pedal

Oh no not a smart car but My pocket rocket does 160kph with ease and can cruise their for hours, I often use it to travel to visit family 4 hours away

Ok, fine, I'll be taking the long way there, the non-eco-friendly and luxurious way!

I'll gladly eat your dust, don't eat mine though, it'll taste like gasoline and rust! For all I know your save-the-planet car blows sunshine and bubbles out it's exhaust!

In the UK, the standard 500 has proved very popular and was considered for a long time up until recently as THE small car to own, but Citroens DS and the new Mini cooper have taken its shine off, but that is only really because they are newer cars. 500 has huge appeal. Hope you are happy with it !

Alex I have had some seriously large cars,  But petrol is $5 a gallon here so I needed something smaller I average 3000 + miles a month so its become important to go economical.
