Hmmm, I think that's my point. Some of the Panasonic canisters have been around an awful long time. I think it's a good thing. They're reliable machines of a classic design, four full sized attachments, button lock wands, a simple circuit design, all of which have been around since the 1980s. Are these not the exact qualities so many here miss with their modern, high tech machines? I read the complaints about tiny attachments, small and expensive HEPA bags, finicky electronics, etc with mentions of longing for the old days of more simple machines with bigger attachments. If that is what you want buy a Panasonic.
The MC-CG902 in particular has been around since the latter part of the '90s as various Kenmore and Panasonic models. It is as proven and reliable a vacuum as you can buy at any price and you will get two decades of trouble free use from it with reasonable care. Probably more the way we dote on our vacuums. It is like taking a trip in a time machine and returning with one of our favorite classics, fresh from the factory. The more upscale Panasonic bagged canisters are developments of this model. Synthetic cloth HEPA bags can be bought at any Sears six for twenty bucks. Filters are likewise shared with Kenmores, and are cheap and abundant. They are also good. Most of the machine has been around in one form or another for 20 to 35 years. All the bugs were worked out ages ago. Buy it and enjoy it. The money you will save over the vastly more costly machines many here tend to recommend can be used to add classics to your collection.
Just a thought.
