When I worked at Electrolux SA we had a sample of this one as well. I was always fascinated by it but it was Red in colour. I found the Motor placement interesting Compared to what we were used to in machines that looked like this one.

No , It was just a sample along with a black Eureka Boss . This is a picture of the boss in the one dusty sample room. Both these samples were destroyed a while later. I wish I could get one of each of them. I was fasinated by Eureka having never heard of the name before then.
I never got a pic of the Ultra

I've never understood....what is the point of buying a NIB vacuum, leaving it in the box, hiding it away and then never using it? What joy is there in that? To me, a vacuum is to be used...I don't care whether it is new or old. I get enjoyment out of using it....not letting it sit in a box in a corner.

Just my opinion.

I think the idea is to preserve it for the future. How nice will it be in 30 years to see an unscratched machine.

Look I see it from both sides though , I admire Dans patients I could never do it I am like a kid in a candy store with new machines. I love to use them to hear them run for the first time and the smell of the newness .
I love to have my machines on display but then I am privileged enough to own a vacuum shop to do this in and I also have a amazing wife who lets me dot them around the house.

That said what is the difference between putting it in a storage room if you dont have the space and leaving it neatly wrapped in its box. when you have a few hundred machines it becomes impossible to keep them all out on display

I have about 400 to 500 at the moment. I display allot of them at my office, I plan to display even more as soon as the space becomes available for us to extend. I love to have all the ones I like and even some of the ones I don't like.
I like to see the difference in designs Through the ages and especially here in SA stop them from ending up in the trash heap.

I am definitely a collector and not a hoarder as I don't collect them for no point. Also if I have more than one of a model I try and pass it on to other collectors.

I find it strange how if some one has a barn full of pristine cars they are highly revered amoungst the car collecting community but with vacuums if you have many you are frowned apon and consider a Hoarder.

I like to see all the different models and how they changed over the years.

The point Gary is

It's what I enjoy and just as Garteth said years down the road a brand new collector will benefit from my collection or Hoard as you call it .

Most people are also a bit jealous of me because I can own every vacuum my heart desires I really don't care about what those people think .

I love being able to have my collection in my storage room or where ever they may be in my home and use a different vacuum when ever the mood hits me . To each their own enjoy your collection your way and I enjoy mine my way ;)

Who knows when I retire I may open an East Coast vacuum museum ;)

Dan! Not THAT thing! I saw that in Sears last night, and thought it was the most clunkiest clunksterfest of a bagless I'd ever seen! You do know I gave that machine the 'ugliest vacuum of 2014'award, right!? You could've put that money toward a THIRD new Kirby!!
