My collection!!

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I have a collection of 1960s & 1970s Braun kitchen appliances when they were still made in West Germany and good quality. They never sold the vacuum cleaners in Canada or the USA that I can remember.

Hi Kevin, I like your collection! One vacuum I whish I had is the american hoover Spirit with that wonderful power nozzle. Here in Italy the Spirits were called "Compact" and the "total system" models had a different powernozzle, but I think that in Spain was about the same.
Is the red vacuum cleaner a Toshiba? I was very fashinated by Toshiba vacs in the late eighties. Here are some pictures of mine, a very famous model: it was sold with a great turbo nozzle which one of the most effective I've ever seen in my life and it can be easily be turned into a straight suction bare floor tool. I hope you like it!

Red Vacuums a National (Panasonic) Tommy. :)

That's why I'm so impressed with Kevin's collection..lots of Panasonic goodness.

WOW! That's a very cool Toshiba, Tommy, I really love it!
I love those Japanese styled vacuum cleaners.
With respect to the Hoover Spirit, I bought it in USA trough ebay. In Spain also was called the Hoover Compact, but unfortunately I never seen one of this.
To which of my two red vacuum cleaners you talk about?

Hi Kevin,I was talking about the national Panasonic that recalls me other japanese vacuum cleaners from the 70s.
To Ian 88,I'm visiting my mother's houese tomorrow and I will look for the Panasonic brochure from the Eighties I'm sure I have and I'll scan it.

Braun & Vorwerk

hi Kevin, nice collection, I see you have Kirby and Vorwerk too, I thought I was in my room, hehe.

Finally I see a Braun vacuum. (They were never sold in Germany). Apart from their main factory in Kronberg/Ts. Braun has another factory in Marktheidenfeld, Bayern (for shavers) and also one factory in Barcelona, where they make their irons for example. This Braun vacuum seems to be a rebadged "Progress" to me (this German company has expired).

Here are two sites of other collectors, I think you might enjoy them:
More on Progress here: http://www.staubsauger-progress.de/
More on Vorwerk here: http://www.vorwerk-museumprivat.de/

Cheers, Joe

Hey man thanks for taking pictures of that Hoover Spirit. I am jealous!!!! No seriously, I am glad you have such a fine machine in your collection. I hope you enjoy it.

BTW, thank you for the kinds words about my collection. I really like my Electrolux Marquis too. I still am happy that I talked my BF's mother into giving it to me after she bought a new Miele. I worked for months and months to get the vacuum. HE HE. ;-)
