Welcome to VacuumLand! Thanks for posting, that's a very nice looking collection! I see that you have a Garry in your collection, I don't know much about them, and imagine that they didn't have a long run, but I have wanted one ever since I watched that infomercial years ago!

thanks

the gary came to me in a rather strange way. i was at a thrift shop not that far away from town and i saw several vacs in kind of a back break room area and one of them was the gary. long story short, a phone call was made and it was mine for $10 ..but im actually wanting to sell it

I love the color on that Royal peeking out in the first picture. You have good taste, too, based on the Filter Queen, the Rainbow SE, the Tristar, and that nice looking Dirt Devil Broom Vac. As for Hoovers, there is a self propelled windtunnel in the back there.
I think my favourite is the Garry. We may laugh now, but it's always the weird ones that become super collectible in the future. I have yet to see one in person anywhere. I wouldn't let that out of my sight because in a few years it will be one of the rarest ones out there.

Very diverse collection... nice mix of low and high end, vintage and modern, and upright and canister. The Broom Vac is fun, isn't it?

The Garry

That Garry is a very rare one - I've only ever seen one of these on ebay in the UK, and they seem to be an imitation Oreck.
Does anyone else have any info on Garry vacs? Are they a US cleaner only, and are they still in production? Is Garry a subsidiary of a larger company? I don't know much about them, and was interested in the one that appeared on Ebay UK, but the seller wouldn't post it if I remember rightly.

Others are right in that they say you should hold on to the Garry, as it may well be very collectible in the future, due to it being an oddity brand.

well ...the rainbow is not an se ..its a d4c but my neigbor has the se model and the filter queen is my aunts, its at my house looking pretty until i get a switch for it

and the yes the broomvac is fun but i have noticed that the pulley looks almors bent slightly. is that normal on these?

Dirt Devil stick vac

Can you please post pictures of the Dirt Devil bagged stick vac please?

BTW, what is the model # of that Royal? It's either a model 886, 887 or 85103, going by the color of the bag. All of them would have the 6.0 amp non-drop-in motor.

The serial # for a pre-1990 886 or 887 would be, for example, J87B005106. From April 1990, it would be something like D90001557G.

Thank you,

Ben

There's at least 6 Hoovers there!

JMurray, I don't think there's a lack of Hoovers. At minimum there are 2 Elite style, 1 Windtunnel Self Propelled, and 3 Concepts. I think there might be a Dial-A-Matic behind one of the Concepts, and I the third picture on the right hand side the white hose looks like it could be a Hoover Celebrity electrified hose? To me the material looks like Hoover.

Overall very nice collection. I myself am a power nozzle canister fanatic. I love that Eureka RotoMatic power nozzle and I think your Dyson has the electric powered nozzle as well.

Welcome aboard!

Rob, you should know that 6 Hoovers is not enough!! :)

In fairness I am being hypocritical since I only own five Hoovers in my collection but I don't intend to sin for much longer.

nice collection!

All nice but if I were to pick a vac to clean the rest of the house it would be Elite style Hoover, tan Eureka UR or the Like New!! Filter Queen.I just sold a Dirt Devil Kone and found it to be better as a sculpture than a vac.Your opinion?Does it have light in base?I have extra DD type K bags if you might need.Garry--I had a cleaning service customer who was happy with Oreck and then saw Garry on tv and bought.Had a broken fan very soon after and found the 'warranty'was more trouble and expence than it was worth.Brought to me to fix with Oreck fan.I felt the overall quality was not as good as Oreck. Is an interesting machine and worth collecting but your thrift store price would be the best way to find.-Happy Vacuuming!

durango159, yes that is a dial a matic.. and the two elite style machines..one is a runnabout and the maroon is an elete that i payed very little for at goodwill. and the hose is a button lock eureka canister hose, electrified.. its for the gray ironside.

compamac, yes i will asap.

and as for the kone...it really is just a sculpture ... when my neigbor saw it he said ... now that looks like a womans sexual toy........needless to say it has been sitting in the way back ever since. lol

oh and the royal is an 886 and i have no idea what the other numbers are.

and there is one more that cannot really be seen ..its a model 61 that is in disrepair..in my case that is.

rugsucker...

...as for the gary, the fan in mine hasnt broken at all yet... but it is an ok vacuum but i dont like the agitation that it has... i think ill stick to my hoover concept one or kirby classic III with bouble row brush.
