Here's a bunch of pictures of my Christmas decorating! My little gold tree I got a few years ago and most of the ornaments on it are from when I was a child or from my mom and great grandma! The tree topper I got at a garage sale last year for $0.50! The guy I bought it from said it was vintage, I'm not sure how old though? The little ceramic trees are vintage and my mom made them back in the 1960's or early 1970's when she was in school. The bigger one with snow caps on it she made for her mom, my grandma gave it to me a few years ago and the smaller one she had made for her grandma and I got it last year. Since my mom passed away a little over a year ago, these things mean the world to me! It's cool because I have a tree in almost every room! The little vintage like 1980's candles I remember my great grandma having, but these came from my grandma. She just gave me these last year too! I love them because they remind me of my childhood! Thought I would share my happy little Christmas memories!!! :) -Michelle

Using/displaying items that were once used by loved ones is a great way to honor their memories--good for you, Michelle!

Nice vintage decorations overall. Yes, the star tree-topper is mid-century vintage; it appears to be the NOMA brand (although sometimes different brands had similarly-styled products).

Everyone

Thank you very much to everyone for all the wonderful comments!!! I would love to buy a vintage aluminum pom pom tree, but our house is too small for one! I use to have a 6 1/2 foot white tree, but sadly it's pre-lit bulbs quit! Now, I have my furniture laid out differently and it cannot be changed due to clocks/radios, and chainsaws! Ha Ha! So, I decided that I would just get a little 4 foot gold aluminum faux looking tree. He sits on an old end table that's just specifically kept for this tree! BTW, the tree skirt is Christmas Hello Kitty fabric that my mom bought and made for me! She also made me a matching table runner out of extra fabric she had! It's kinda cool, because she made this tree skirt for a typical sized tree, so it drapes nicely over the end table I think!

Ronni, thanks for the info on my star!!! I knew someone on here would know! Everyone on here seems to be into everything! Ha Ha! All it says on the long stalk is GEM. Don't know if that means anything??? This is how I bought it, no box sadly!

Also, I have cheapy light box presents on our front porch! We have the perfect amount of steps for them and plus our house is symmetrical, so it looks good! I'll have to take a picture of them soon! :) -Michelle

You're welcome for the information, Michelle!

I did some online digging at http://www.oldchristmastreelights.com/glossary.htm and http://www.manta.com/c/mrsfpb5/gem-......1ac.1.34.heirloom-hp..8.8.4213.zZUEuu5cfGw and found Gem Electric Manufacturing Company, Incorporated in Hauppauge, NY was established in 1930. Lights have been sold under the Gem and Gemlites names; so that must have been the company that manufactured your star tree topper.

NOMA (National Outfit Manufacturer's Association)--a trade group of 13-15 smaller manufacturers--was once the largest holiday lighting manufacturer in the world. It was formed in 1925 and began selling NOMA-branded light sets in 1926. It filed for bankruptcy in 1965 and since 1967 has existed only as a licensed trademark.

Here is a photo of the tin tree topper by NOMA--from an eBay listing--that reminded me of yours (although the company made different versions over the years--such as plastic ones):

WOW!!! Thanks for all of the wonderful information! Yea, I'm a little bit smarter now! Ha Ha! Awesome! I will have to do some research of my own now, since you piqued my interest on NOMA and Gem companies! Thanks again!!! :) -Michelle

Thanks! I love those trees even more since my mom made them! Also, just love how they look like a glorified lite brite!!! Ha Ha! :) -Michelle

Indeed!

We have old NOMA candles, etc. I remember being in "Pittston Electric" buying NOMA items with my late father when I was a kid.
My cousin had a ceramic schoo/store. She would "practice" with us. There are several ceramic trees here. So, after all this talk.. they will come out.
I never thought about it but, they DO sort of remind me of a "Lite Brite".
With all this "nostalgia", I think we should all play some "Johnny Matthis" Christmas music.
