I love that style hose. One of my favourites. The new plastiflex one I have (NuTone) seems like it doesn't want to go fully flexible like the vinyl hoses do. It seems almost stiffer and doesn't fall right to the ground from the handle. Also, I have the same hose sock, and it does help. I like it better than the zipper ones as they seem more bulky and they don't hug the hose like this one does. I have both, and I prefer the tight fitting one.

I had a hose sock when I first purchased my VacuFlo with a Hayden power nozzle kit. I got rid of the Hayden kit shortly after I purchased the unit as it did not suit my needs and I honestly couldn't stand the hose sock. I have a cat that sheds, but he does not shed an excessive amount of hair. He is 16+ pounds so he has a good amount of hair, but when I was using the hose sock I felt like I was just shuffling the cat hair and dirt around the house because every piece of dirt and hair would stick to it. If you are careful with the hose it won't scratch the baseboard, and even my housekeeper was very conscious about this too

I have never seen a hose sock before, It would never work in my house for the same reason , cats. Just out of interest what is it supposed to do ?
The hose sock was to prevent the hose from scratching or marring floors-or to prevent damage to wall corners.

Makes sense, My hose on my central soft so it doesn't scratch
