My BIG thumbs-up for the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

I've known about this product for years but I never tried it because I figured it wouldn't live up to the hype. I bought one today to use on the Lux Legacy I recently acquired after Jon wrote that it worked well for him. All I can say is WOW. I had tried every spray cleaner in the house but nothing was touching the paint marks or the grime on the side bumpers. Now the cleaner body looks nearly new, and if the eraser did any harm to the texture of the plastic, it's minimal and is certainly a great trade-off considering how great the vac looks now.


 


On my way upstairs to tell my wife about this, I stopped at the side basement door. It instantly took off the grime and fingerprints. No more tedious scrubbing with a rag and spray cleaner.


 


I researched and found that it cleans physically, not chemically. For those who are interested, this page explains it very well. I see that there's misinformation out there too, no surprise. One web page said to always wear gloves because if it cleans this well, it will burn your hands. Not true! There are no chemical cleaning agents in it. I did not wear gloves, and my scrubbing hand is fine. It also did a bang-up job cleaning the chrome outlet and switch plates in our kitchen. Highly recommended! BTW I received no compensation of any kind for this plug.

They do work very well. I use them as you did on bumpers and also on plastic to get off scuff marks. On plastic they can leave a hazy color, but it polishes back up with plastic polishing compound or car wax. Just stay away from printed on areas or go very carefully and slowly around them.

I usually buy the Great Value ones at Walmart or I think you can get a two pack of off brand at Dollar Tree for $1. They both work just as well as the original brand, IMO

They’re my go to for heavy duty cleaning!!

I use these like crazy but I will mention they do take the sheen off glossy paint so be careful on your house woodwork. My MOST FAVORITE use for them is to clean my stainless steel kitchen sink. Wet the eraser, add a puddle of dish soap to the sponge and clean the sink with a sort of polishing action going in the direction of the grain of the steel. You will be amazed at how your sink will shine like the day it was first new and how much gunk actually sticks in the grain of the stainless steel. Cleans better than comet and a scrubbing pad!

Go try it…you’ll be amazed.

Just be very careful what you use them on. They have abrasive agents within the sponge pad, and it WILL scratch paint, glass, plastic, etc. Best to use them on anything non-marring that won't be harmed by the abrasive. Rough textured plastic and rubber is what I have used them on.

Speaking for vacuums they will clean up the rubber bumpers nicely. Or any vacuums made with a textured plastic. I wouldn't dare trying to use it on the actual plastic finish of the vacuum.

Yes

I love them…but on glossy surface test first in an inconspicuous area. Weird how they work. I had known of them for some time but didn’t try them until I moved into a house with natural stone and can’t use acidic cleaners to remove the soap scum from my shower because it is marble. A customer overheard me asking what I could use to clean the shower in a Home Depot and piped up saying to use the magic eraser. Works fine but they do crumble apart quickly. They are essentially dense foam. Definitely fun to use cleaning sorts of stubborn stuff, I do use them in the black porcelain of my cooktop which can get scratched by those green scotch Brite plastic pads…use some oven cleaner sprayed on the baked on grease, let sit 30 minutes and wipe away the mess and use the eraser on anything that didn’t come off.

Stubborn stains in my stainless appliances come off with the eraser as well.

When I got my used Lux Legacy it had some odd stains and scuff marks that didn’t come off with the usual cleaner so I used the eraser and it cleaned up everything perfectly!
