A little Hoover clinic ... my model 70 cuts out when you lower the handle.
Lubing bearings on another model 70.
"Model 70 turning off when the handle reclines" sounds like a torn wire. Easily fixed with another harness, or with a new wire fed through.
Ahh yes, the Hoover Grease Gun. I purchased my tips brand new from Ed, At Morrison's Sweeper Place. It is my understanding that they were his last spare set. I use mine nearly every day...here is mine greasing a model 51 Upper Bearing.

After the spa here they are. The 719 on the end was a three dollar church find.

Seeing that abandoned factory was kinda sad. Endemic in America now; so many of our great old companies are gone and the towns the factories supported had to fend for themselves.
All those decades that Electrolux US flourished in CT and then gone like thieves in the night.

That 719 was given to me by a co worker
She found it in a church flea market. It was listed at $5.00. At the end of the day, my friend offered $3.00. She brought to an end of the year picnic. It was a mess. NOT anymore! I actually assisted Tom tonight with some of these projects. (He did MOST) of it, really.
The cherished building is a total disaster area at the moment. But, I'm sure it'll be marvelous once it is all completed. It still has that same smell to it. I was a little shocked at the condition of the place. I was given a few bricks from the front of the building where the "Home of Hoover Appliances". was. I'm told the letters are going back upon completion. You'll notice that the "iconic" smokestack was torn down and REBUILT! It's wonderful to see it when you enter the town. Sadly, the factory is no longer there, but.................
To quote Sonny and Cher, "History has turned a page, huh".
Tomorrow will be another fun filled day. I picked up a great little HOOVER refrigerator today at an estate sale. It belonged to aHoover employee who passed away last week. That, a washing machine, and a few other cleaners are returning to PA. I also found an BEAUTIFUL "Celebrity, with all of the accessories. WE were in the "Canton Preservation Society". It was in a corner, next to a vintage Electrolux and a Regina electric broom in orange. Tom was amazed that the Hoover caught my eye from so far away. Silly boy, Tom...

Interesting shots of that Hoover site-does the place still have power?Looks like the remains of a power company substation in front of the Hoover smokestack.The site must of had their own HV to MV substation.The VOA Bethany,Ohio transmitter site had a similar substation.

You can see work lights burning all through the place. They HAD made their own power at one time. They just don't generate their own anymore.

Me with Jane who worked at Hoover for almost 40 years. She gave me some leftover notepads embossed with her name and the Hoover logo. How wonderful! She even signed it for me.
