I got this vacuum for $65.00. I had bearing noise but still was strong. I replaced the motor, and today I got the HEPA filter. I just love it. I swap brush rolls with NOS Electrolux brush roll. For me I think grooms better than current genuine brush roll. It's little stiffer.

Very nice! It was the first iteration of the Guardian label to carry the Lux designator--previous ones were simply labeled "Guardian" or "Guardian Encore". When the Aerus brand was fully implemented in 2004, the numeric labels were dropped; so the "Guardian" moniker was brought back for the direct sales model (for several years it was only used for the indirect sales line). Your models are: for the main unit, C154E; and for the power nozzle, N137S. They were manufactured by Eureka--either in Texas or Mexico.

The styling was also used with the Renaissance, Epic 8000, & Lux 9000 labels; although the Guardians were the only ones to have the HEPA filter. Altogether the series had a dozen tank models and about 10 pn models--both for direct and indirect sales--in its 15-year run, from 1994-2009.

If you need the instruction booklet go to aerushome.com and select the "service" link.

Happy Luxing!

What others do you own? How do they compare/contrast?

I also wanted to mention that your Lux Guardian was the only one with that label, and was manufactured from 2004-09. It was succeeded by the C170A Lux Guardian Ultra which had a different body style and JEI (Japanese Engine Import) motor. I believe all the Guardians were factory-equipped with VM3 motors.

I neglected to mention that Aerus's main office will be able to give you the year(s) of production if you provide the serial(s)--if you're interested.

Those are not NOS brush rolls, as electromatik pointed out the grooves do not line up. They must've used a model with the wire guards as spacing for the grooves. I bought one just like this on eBay a month ago, I just pulled out the tufts that were rubbing on the bar. Another aspect that shows poor quality I found is that it's out of round, after installing and spinning the brush by hand you can watch the brush roll come really close to the bars then move away. I tried it in my tristar and two luxs and couldn't figure out why it vibrated so much til I did what I mentioned above.

I had one of these....

, was a mess when I got it for a steal. I got discouraged when I noticed how pricey the Hepa filters were. I ended up buying a generic and selling the vac. The lady I sold it to LOVES it.
