My 2nd refurbished Eureka 3712B canister

My 2nd refurbished Eureka 3712B canister that I bought from someone on an online auction site. The outside was in excellent condition for a vacuum of its age. However, the inside was rust covered; but it had all of the original attachments. In another thread, I was trying to find out the interior color, no replies. So I just grabbed one of the parts and visited a local hardware store and found the color match that was very close - Charcoal gray.
Used a 'fine' wire wheel, removed rust to bare metal, about 2.25 hours, used filler primer and enamel paint.

Excellent work! I'm sure you are pleased with the way the parts are turning out.

Not that long ago, I was doing pretty much the same thing to a Hoover Convertible brush roll. Remove all old paint with a wire wheel, then primed and painted it.

However, a thought occurred to me after doing this: How common was lead paint on vacuums? Was the brush roll likely painted with lead paint? If so, maybe I shouldn't have gone at it with the wire wheel...

The brush roll originally had black paint and came out of the plastic base Convertible on the right.

Anybody know?
