i was lucky enough to be able to add the optional round brush to the set. now i just need the straight tube and the friction fit floor brush then my prize cleaner will be complete. hope you all like it!!

You are very lucky to have a 119 with tools and the boxes as well!

If you have any more pictures feel free to post them up.

the junior was almost in that condition when i got it at a local shop. it had a blue bag and white cord though. i got another 119 off ebay that was in a bad way but the original bag and cord were great so i added them to this. the handle had a few minor scratches so i took the crevice tool to a specialist paint shop where they scanned the colour to make a near perfect match. after spraying it looked like it did in 1953. my other cleaners are great too and shall have them up soon.

It warms my heart to hear of the lengths you went to to get the 119 in mint condition, it really is admirable.

The burning question is though, does it clean better than a 1977 Hoover Senior Ranger? Only jesting - the other members will know what I mean.

What wattage is it? Am I right in thinking those models were 225W?

you are right!!! just checked it is indeed 225w. this one cleans my 50s style flat every week. it does a great job!!! i have a paper junior bag inside the original so i dont have to worry about dirt ruining the original bag. very scarce are these so i keep mine dirt free at the same time being able to clean when needed. i wonder how many of us have also converted the bags to to take paper???

The problem with converting to a paper bag is that it's not easily done, and does restrict the suction power somewhat. However, I for one would not want to use it with just the cloth bag for filtration.

it seems to work great even though i converted it. i got a stiff cardboard tube and turned bag inside out. there is a flap at the bottom i guess to keep dirt from falling back out. i inserted tube inside and taped it in place. the tube is long so it goes 3/4 of the way in the paper bag so it is more like a top fill bag in a sense. when hose is attached the suction is amazing. very impressive for an old cleaner. it picks up the carpet by the kitchen sink.

Great Hoover 119 you have ,Must have to admit to being a fan of these 119 juniors now after recently obtaining one with the original toolkit and box .Have always been a collector of the1334 series of Hoover Juniors but since obtaining my 119 i must agree with you on what a fantastic machine they are .The serial number of my 119 is KG 283361 which dates it around AUG 1955
