Music?

Ok, coming out of the closet here, anyone else love what I call the poor man's Streisand ? Jane Oliver? I have devoured her since mid 70s, always a sore throat from trying to sing along with that range of voice or a tear from memory! yes the quasi grandson loves her too. Not main stream perhaps, but maybe some others here know of or enjoy?

True story...

My dad used to have a friend (passed away a few years back) who grew up in Brooklyn and likd to tell a story about being on his high school prom committee. After attempts to book several different musical acts fell through, a fellow committee member--Steve Streisand--threw up his hands and said "Well, we can always get my kid sister Barbara to sing". And so they did.

I like Jane Oliver. I remember her singing a duo with Johnny Mathis for Same Time Next Year. I will have to check out more of her music.

we like. Both of them have great voices. They sing some sad songs.

Being that I wasw a music teacher for 20+ years.........

I like all kinds of music. I had to study AND teach almost every type. Some, of course, I like better.
I remember when my mother passed away, we met with the undertaker. As we entered the funeral home, they had awful, somber organ music playing. I told "Bill", "Well, the first thing to go is THAT. If ANY music should be played, it would be Glen Miller, as she loved big band music". Wakes are sad enough w/o somber, almost macabre music.
