Stopped by the Museum of Clean in Pocatello on my way back home with the wife today. Last time I was there was 10 years ago and it was still under construction and they didnt have near as many vacuums. Now, Don Aslett has amassed a collection of at least 1200 vacuums in his museum. I've attached photos, and a link to the youtube video I made. Any collectors in the northern Utah or Southern Idaho/Wyoming/Montana area would be fun to meetup with and take a day trip down here. Don Aslett is very nice and was very informative. His collection has some extremely rare pieces as well. Thought I'd share with y'all.

Nice

Being one of the people in the Saud locations I'd go.
He could use some help with some displays. I could give him a few ideas.
He has a lot of sweet vacuums.

Les,

I offered to help him as well. He has man extremely rare vacuums. Very beautiful collection and a good majority of them work! There's even a few sections of the museum where you can test them out.

Thank you for documenting it so well. Not many people do, they just rush past most of them.
I gotta ask, in the downstairs portion of the vacuum collection, did you see the first Eureka? I saw a glimpse of it in a different video. It was on it's own little table against the wall, next to some toy vacs.

Hoover300,

You're welcome! I always am good about documenting lots of details. And that is exactly why I documented all these, didnt wanna be like everyone else lol. It bothers me when other people rush past the important ones as well! Yes it is the first Eureka! Very neat machine! Had some info about it placed next to it as well. He has many, many, very old Eureka vacuums in there. I even offered to donate my Eureka model M to him. I live pretty close now so I could easily just drive it down.

It sure is! The closest I've seen is Vachunter.com's model 2, with wheels on the head and a large wheel in the back.
Thanks!

Hoover300,

You're welcome! Thats the only one I've ever seen in person. As woth many of the vacuums in his collection. Was excited to see another Bison Centurion. Glad mine isnt the only one in Idaho lol.

Panasonicvac, lemme know when you do and maybe we could do a mini meet or something? Kloveland, you're welcome! I thought his entire collection was really neat! Don is a great guy and definitely a cleaning master! His museum is well worth the visit. I have never been to the Starks Museum, but Ive heard about it from other collectors and it seems like it'd be a cool place. And ai agree, it is definitely nice to see some non electrics. He even had the first non electric model from 1860. And a horse driven carriage vacuum.

There are definitely some nice machines in his collection. He didn't used to have nearly as many. I wonder if he talks about the machines, puts them in their historical time slots? I see most are grouped by brand. Stan Kann did that with his collection. That's an interesting way to do it. I always thought grouping them by age was the way to go. Don has a very nice place.

Is there any kind of expert tour guide who knows all about all the cleaners, what models they are, when they were made, how much they cost at the time, etc.? They are grouped loosely by brand, sitting on concrete floors - but is there anyone to talk about them? How much does it cost to walk through there?

Don seems to have quite anarray of machines

there. I see info all around the displays. I'm not sure when/how he started this. I'm not sure if he studied 'museum studies'. I hope/trust all the info is accurate. I know it is at The Hoover Historical Center. It is a bonafied museum, with all the requirements, etc.

I'm not about to start a thing here. Don's assortment is impressive, and, I'd love to visit.
