Most expensive production vacs?

I don't understand ...

... why the vacuum is a MILLION dollars.

With the price of gold today hovering just below $1600 an ounce, even if the sucker was made out of SOLID GOLD -- down to every last screw -- the 20 pounds of gold itself would be worth only about $385,000.

Several years ago looked on the Delphin website and they showed a stainless steel model for $4500.And Silver Kings go for $3200-3500.The gold Royal is a joke along with the crystal covered Hylas.A regular Royal would do just as well. For 1 Mil-you should be able to BUY the Royal factory-than all of the Royals you would want!

My Kirby Sentria

As some of you probably remember, a few years ago, I wanted a new Sentria but decided I didn't want to pay the dealers price for it.  So I found parts on eBay, and from people here on this sight, and built a new Kirby for less than $600.00.  And that is with every optional attachment available for it except the Turbo Sander.  Here is a link to the original thread.

Meow!
Sorry, it was said with the best Zsa-Zsa intentions.
I often forget that this side has no sense of humor and a sore pooter shoot.
I promise to not address you again--ever, if you promise to not take yourself so seriously..

And if someone pays too much, then that would be their problem now wouldn't it? Buyer beware.

Scams and unethical people are all over. Best thing is to not open the door. BTW--I work for a Department on Aging, so am aware of the scam on older adults. It is highly derogatory to call them elderly.

Well. I was unaware that the word elderly is derogatory. At age 62, I guess I'm in that bracket of whatever they might properly now call people of that ilk. My wife, a mere lass of 57, bridles when I use the term "senior schitizen" but only because of its scatological reference.

For myself, I've been called worse than elderly. How about crabby old man? By my wife, I might add.

Well said Chris, cue retail prices. Yes whilst one can haggle, it is more difficult to do so in the UK, even with a salesman or at a department store where the price is already fixed. Those with private vacuum shops don't tend to knock off cost prices anymore. Maybe its different in America.

Sadly most U.S vacuums in the U.K have always been overpriced. Kirby are the worst for hyping up the cost price and second to that brand, Oreck. However, it has to be said, the U.S seem to be paying mega cheap prices for even the cheapest vacuums on the market.

Example, the Dirt Devil Quick Power Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, UD70115 is $47-97 which is currently equivalent to £31.77 Our version of that vacuum in the UK was the Tesco vacuum, also sold at Argos a few years back under the Proaction label and Woolworths also had a version - general price was a few more pounds with Tesco papping off a silver version last year for double the price.

Due to economy then where one vacuum cleaner may be cheap to buy in the U.S, it 'aint the same for everyone in the world sadly.

if something is perceived to cost too much, or you don't have the funds to purchase you have two options:
1. Haggle or deal
2. Don't buy it.

I guess the third option would be whine and complain. I usually do this one.

Tennant truck vacuum--just what you need when the misses asks you to help her with the vacuuming!Remember seeing a broken down-very bad condition-one of these in an apartment garage area-used to live in that building-the building engineer said they used to use it to clean the apartment house parking lots-its engine blew and they just left it in the building garage. It was a huge direct air unit where the debris went thru a HUGE metal fan!It was sort of taken apart where you could see the fan and motor.
