Nice :)

Hey James

Me like - im guessing the 1224 is all original? :).

Whats the serial # of your U4003? I have a feeling that only a single batch of these were imported. My example is U400341129398 making mine( and every other example im aware of from November 74- does yours conform to this theroy????

Seamus

Hi Seamus. The Hoover 4003s number is 400341126340 is that any help 2 you??

Yes the Hoover 1224 is all original most all come with the tools in boxes.

The lux 504 came in yesterday. Some 1 saved it me from the tip and brought it in to me.

Not bad 4 free:o)

James :o)

November 74 it is then !

Hi James

So yours is 26340 from Nov 74 and mine is 29398 from the same month - making them 3058 apart coming off the North Canton production line :).

The odd thing is I believe the U4003 was actually a 1973 model in the US (can any US members confirm that??) so ours may have been produced to use up old parts(apart from the armature/field coils obviously!!!).

There are a couple of other differences on our version...

1. The US version has Custom Convertible printed on the lens.

2. The UK version has a UK switch assembly fitted.

3. The cable running through the handle is run through an extra insulating plastic sleeve. Im guessing this and the switch were necessary for it to pass the BS Double insulation tests???

Hi Walter...

Hi Hope your ok.
Yeah I think that's a 541 model Hoover.
Nope I didn't buy the Hoover bag with the orange question mark.
It was on the machine when I got it.

Hope this helps:o)

James:o)

James, that is a beautiful collection and display! You have some fantastic machines. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great stuff there James!

What do your customers think of all the old machines? I bet you get a lot of "my Mum had one just like it"!!

Yes, thanks for sharing!

Rick

PS. What do you think of my trying to learn English? (Mum).....

I AM GREENER THAN GREEN!!!

James,

The U4003 is one of the machines I would LUUUUURVE to find. Rarer than the proverbial hens teeth!!

I am hoping to get down to Eastwood on Saturday, bringing the Kirby Pics and hopefully a couple of other additions to your museum!! ;)

I cannot wait to see some of your works of art in the flash too.

Happy hoovering,

Clark.

Hi Clark

Hi Clark. Be nice to see you.
What time are you thinking of coming? as I'm open till about 2:30
ish on Saturday.

Also there is a drive way at the side of my shop and if you drive down there you can park in the car park at the back:o)

James:o)

Lucky find James!

Well, as far as job lots and collections go, you've done well there James. Clarke is not the only one green with envy...plus you couldn't wait 'til I got home to tell me about it all either ;)

Orange ? bag

Walter - I won one of those on Ebay recently; it's a US version, which must be similar to the British one, except for having Reg. U.S. Pat Office written on the bag.

It's not quite a ?, since the ? is reversed, there's no dot in it plus the curved part overlaps slightly. I believe that it's for model 725. The model 700 had a similar bag but the curved part of the line was below the writing. I have one of these too but not in very good nick; I'll see if I can find it later.

Stephen

Hello Stephen,

Thanks for the info, I hope to find one of those bags sometime at a realistic price !!!

James,

I hope to be able to visit your museum sometime.

Regards, Walter.

We meet at last!!! :D:D:D:D:D

James,

I would just like to say thank you for being so welcoming when I visited on Saturday.
Your collection is truly the stuff of dreams.

I am looking forward to coming over again at some point in the near future. I have a couple more bits and pieces for you.

Once again, as I said as I left, I wish you all the very very best in this venture. A dream long held, now a reality. Well done mate.

BTW, you need to get those Hoover commercial machines pictured for us to drool over! :D:D:D

Happy hoovering, (ooops, Vacuuming!!!)

Clark.
