Hi ALL,

Please rank this list or just report on the one's you own/have used. (Yes some are older models).

1. Riccar SupraQuik.
2. Simplicity Sport.
3. Oreck Buster B 1st. generation.
4. Oreck XL Buster B.

Thank you.

The

1. Eureka/sanitaire mighty mite.
2. Dirt devil can vac
3. Oreck the white rectangle shape

The most suction I've ever used on a portable household vacuum cleaner by far is the Lindhaus Aria. Sadly Lindhaus suspended production of those canisters which I think they'll end up discontinuing anyways because the manufacture of the electric hoses where Lindhaus orders from quit making them.

Both Riccar and Simplicity are the same machines. Riccar comes with a reusable shakeout bag while the Simplicity uses disposable bags. Riccar is more expensive but comes with a extra year of warranty. And they're both different colors on the bodies. Supposedly they both still use the same 700 watt motor like their previous models. For the Orecks, really the only differences between the two other than the shapes is that the newer one can use a HEPA filter. But they both use the same 450 watt motors which means they're definitely weaker suction wise. Having used and sold all of them before. I'd recommend trying all of them out at your local dealers if you're in a market for one and see which you'd like better because there's also a difference feel wise as well. Personally, you can't go wrong with either machine. If I had to choose any one, the Oreck HEPA is what I'd rather go with.

Thank you, Alex

I may have settled on two GE portables: a GE MV1 and a MV2.

Today I added some very thin tape seal around the perimeter of where the bag sits and discovered much improved suction. I will end up with 2 more vacs, a Eureka version of the GE and a gray GE MV1.

Thank you for your remarks, it is very much appreciated.
G.

Update,

I have settled on 2 GE MV1's and a MV2. I also got a first-generation Oreck Buster B. I boosted the suction on all by adding foam sealing strips around the ledge/perimeter of the bag chamber. One of the MV1's has a self-sealing cloth bag. All of these will do what I need.

I understand that the newest version of the Riccar Supraquiks and probably the Simplicity Sport, are really powerful. Supposedly, the first generation of each suffered from a design that allowed the motor to torque within the body shell.

Thanks all.
