I took several items including Sunbeam,Regal and Black & Decker vacuums to my EBay seller(Joan--leisurelady65)yesterday.
For any with concerns of shipping quality you may want to know--
I stopped at the UPS store on my way.After Joans recent visit and my cordial but serious conversation the manager is fully aware that our former trust in UPS is now as shattered as a rare machine they recently packed and shipped to the west coast!!and that that trust must be rebuilt one box at a time!!(I did see the outside of a box they packed that looked like a textbook example of safe packing.)
Among many points I made was-
The manager will personally pack my EBay items from Joan.
She will observe the age and materials of an item and use the proper packing materials from their large supply with no part of an item touching the side of the box.
She will have the attitude that every item is wanted by some one who paid an amount of money for it and shipping and will be treated as if it is china or crystal.
It is better that an item arrive SAFER in the condition we describe and picture than FASTER!If proper packing takes an extra day it will not go out the back door until it is packed RIGHT.
I will be glad to answer any question if needed for information on position or possible disassembly of vacs.
Joan will followup on her frequent visits.
An important part of this is with the buyer who receives.If there is a problem with a shipment that we can help with or prevent on a future shipment Joan and I would like to know at once.There will be time to tell others later.Any with computer or EBay experience should be able to easily contact Joan(who handles all matters after description is written and pictures are taken but rarely works Sundays).My cell phone is 423-268-4841(turned off at night & don't leave message as I don't know or care how that works).
As always any are welcome to make the easy drive and save me the trouble,choose in person and eliminate shipping.This worked well last week for a collector who bought 14 rare machines for himself and 2 others in his region.
