Well I must say those are some real good looking vacuums I think my favorite would have to be that little canister the "unit" thanks. Zach

hotpoint 95622

I like the Unit Appliances 1937 machine, nice classy design.
Very unique power socket on the switch, like wise I would think twice using that switch with out dismantling it first to check.

Hose attached

I always liked the styling of these cleaners. I suspect they used Electrolux motors as they certainly "sound" Electrolux. For the time, mid-late 1960s, it was unusual to have all plastic hose handle, wand and tools. The hose handle is similar to that on the L&E but the hose is different.

Moving into the 1970s

With two Goblins

The one on the right is the "traditional" style Goblin which had been around since the mid 1960s, although this version is early 1970s, pretty much unchanged. This cleaner does not have the original bag or flex (the flex would have been torquoise, and was very prone to wear). Given that these were sold not only under the Goblin name but also branded through Electricity boards there are remarkably few of them around.

Its yellow younger sister is an Electricity Board exclusive. I always thought that the elongated front was a headlight (in the manner of the Hoover Junior 1354) but no, its just a fancy cover

From the rear

The knob in the centre rear is the carpet height adjustment.

The Electra normally goes for quite a lot of money, but i got it, and Senior 6525c (US Convertable) and two juniors for 99p the lot! Fair enough it took a tank of petrol to go and collect them, but still, it was worth it for the Electra alone

Another rarity

A couple of months ago I posted pictures of one of my "holy grail" machines, the Electrolux manufactured Trident cannister. I remembered seeing this cleaner many centuries ago during my childhood. Well a couple of years ago at a mini meet ChesterMike produced another Trident, similar to the one I remembered but with a different colour scheme and handle. That was the only one of those I had ever seen till this one came up on ebay a coupe of weeks ago

hehe, I fitted a similar blue bag, like that on the Blue Goblin, to one of my Juniors, the only fifference is the zip is on the handle-side of the bag and it has a white State-the-obvious screen-printed logo, it's funny how they seemed to share a few similar parts, just looking at the bag hanger, that's identical (to my eyes) to the ones used on Hoover Juniors after the 1334... :)

It's the 60's Hotpoint that catches my fancy seconded by the Morphy Richards. I suppose it's because I'm of that age when the sleek contemporary Euro/Scandinavian design appliances were just beginning to make an appearance over here and almost instantly making anything else look somewhat dated. Try as they might to copy them and they did, the N.American manufacturers just couldn't seem to stop themselves from adding that extra button(s) or flourish to their lines of contemporary appliances. They just didn't "get it" right imho.

<span style="font-family: arial black, avant garde; font-size: small;">I really like that Trident. I wish they had put a headlight in it!</span>

<span style="font-family: arial black, avant garde; font-size: small;">You sure have some nice machines. Thanks for posting these.</span>
