TBH I tried one the other day that a friend had just bought off EBay UK and realised why I kept my parents Powa model for so long - the difference of the quality between old and new is very apparent and the vintage ones tend to last longer and are a bit quieter in use. For some fans of Vax models, the 121 could be considered a rarity if it is kept in good condition and hasn't been used just for mucking out the dogs mess out of carpets. The tools for the old ones are harder to find now though. I realised that last year when I tried to get the older raised carpet tool and was forced to get the cheaper Rapide suction only tool that certainly felt lighter when used for wet cleaning, but wasn't as effective or as efficient for removing excess water from the carpet.
