Hey guys, I just ordered a Miele S8 marin on eBay for 150$. It was used twice allegedly, and then the cord got stuck and wouldn't come out. I figured since I have the electro premium nozzle and wand, all I need is a hose which is fine. However, if I need to take this marin to the Miele dealer, how much do you think it will cost for a new reel and labor!?

Thank you!

I was worried no one would say anything! I appreciate it. I'm super excited to get this vacuum, however I have owned a titan, and from what I understand, they have the same motor

You don't need a new reel. The reel likely dislodged from its mount in shipping, or the seller was one of those people that let the reel rip itself in at full speed and the cord is wound too loosely and jammed it.

Okay! I'll check it out. Allegedly they only used the vacuum 2 times and the cord got stuck. So the person they bought it from sent them a new one... Doesn't seem like a likely story, but I will see what I find out when I get it here soon. Either way I only paid 200$ for it and I think it will be a good deal even if it needs a part. It looks like it's brand new. Just didn't know if there were issues with the s8 line

Do yourself a favor...

These cord reels are not hard to get at. When they get stuck, which is a common Miele problem.....German technology, right? OK.

If you are comfortable taking it apart...I mean open the machine and take out the assembly. Blast it clean with an air compressor. Then where the wheel rotates, spray some silicone lubricant on both sides where it rides. I have done this to many of them and it worked for me. Miele dealers will be very quick to rip you off.

Also, if you are looking for replacement attachments, consider the aftermarket brands. For the cost of one genuine Miele attachment you can get a complete set of aftermarket attachments that are just as good. Remember, they are 35mm and not
1 1/4".

I tried looking for attachments and they are far a few between on eBay or Amazon. I think it only comes with a crevice tool? I'll have to triple check. Im considering trading my x4 or Felix for a Miele hose. I don't use those machines.
