Miele S548 Powerhead/Hose Issue...

Greetings,

I have been using my beloved Miele S548 with its powerhead and have noticed an issue: the powerhead keeps shutting off. I have tracked it down to the hose -- if it twists the power cuts off.

It seems to be a short in the hose near the handle end, not the powerhead end. My twisting to determine the problem has actually made it worse now and it is pretty much unusable in its current condition.

Is this an easy fix, can it be fixed at all, or do I need to replace the entire hose? If it take it in for repair to a shop, how much should I expect to spend?

Having spoke to a good friend of mine who is a Miele dealer, the hose problem is pretty common.  Due to the way they are manufactured the complete hose will need to be replaced.   


 


I also talked to another vacuum repairman when I was having problems and he also suggested replacing the hose. Each incident is different but I would just replace it.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping that wasn't going to be the answer. Electrical hoses are expensive. And I can expect it to happen again I suppose if they haven't change the design of them at all.
