Today a neighbor asked me to go vacuum shopping with her. I should saw that I am a Miele owner. We went to a few vacuum shops since she wanted to buy a quality unit. Interestingly two of these shops sold Simplicity vacuums. My wife has a Simplicity sewing machine that has lasted for years, is this the same company?
I kind of headed my neighbor towards a Miele, and the shop owner steered her towards a Simplicity. To tell you the truth, they are very similar to each other. I DID notice that the Simplicity had more metal parts than the Miele. But the both machines looked nearly identical in design.
One place quoted the Simplicity Verve at $875.00 and another vacuum place (that really seemed to know their stuff) made a deal of $699.00 for the Verve.

How do Simplicity vacs stand in terms of performance and reliability?

Ok...

After being born, raised, and bred in Riccar(Simplicity sibbling), I have observed them very thoroughly. I think for the price, there is better. I honestly don't think the suction is that great for a "high-end" vac. Although they last forever(8-15 years), they are expensive in the long run. I personally would go with a Dyson(canister/upright) because once you buy it, there is NO added-on cost. Plus, the suction is constant NO MATTER WHAT.

For canisters, Miele...

From my experience, Riccar / Simplicity canisters tend to have more issues than their high-end competitors. Most frequent are tearing of the hose and issues with the powerhead neck. These canisters are made by Daewoo in Korea.

According to the seller, the Simplicity Verve has a lifetime warranty on the power head. My neighbor is really considering the Simplicity over the Miele.
I didn't know that the Simplicity vacs were made in Korea. The dealer said they were made somewhere in Missouri. Usually most dealers that carry Miele will push those, I am quite surprised that he was pushing the Simplicity, which I have never heard of before.

Well, our neighbor decided on the Simplicity. Reasons?

More metal parts than Miele has
According to the dealer, Miele parts are much more expensive
And finally, the dealer seemed knowledgable and was nice and
didn't push a sale! (Dealers take note!)

Oh well....

But thanks guys for the recommendations.
