Miele canister line up

Miele has always been a bit confusing with their lineups. A while back I think they had the S2, S4, maybe S6 and then the S8 series at the top. They seemed to simplify things somewhat when they came out with the C1 classic series, these were good machines, I have the Olympus which is a good straight suction canister. These didn't have a lot of the bells and whistles but provided a more budget friendly way to own a Miele. Then there was the C2, compact series which was a bit smaller, and then there was the C3, complete series which had push button speed control and came with a Hepa filter. You could choose which series you wanted and then choose the model that included the accessories you wanted. At some point they complicated things again though, there were some compact C1 models, some limited edition models, very confusing. I think Miele is still a good brand but Sebo is a bit better.

And to add to that confusion……

Their M1 mid range has on board tools while their high end L1 has a 2 in 1 tool and dusting brush in hose handle. I think it cheapens the look with their “1 size fits all like it or not” dusting brush.

Would it be so terrible if they had an extended production run on some very well designed successful machines? The S5000 series was a big improvement over the previous series and the C3 was pretty good too.

I noticed they seemed to have used the appallingly small upholstery tool from the Blizzard CX1. I’m not completely against this new line especially not until I experience them in person and try them but I’m glad I bought my C3 Brilliant before that line goes away if it does. I miss the old “S” naming system (like S2, S4, S5, etc) I wish my C3 was still named S8.

Yes…it looks like you will only get a full set of normal Miele attachments with the compact Guard S1….with the tools stored outside at the base of the hose. Which may make that model the preferred choice among the three.
