I have a Miele White Pearl I have used for about 15 years or so. I loaned it to a family member for a while and when they were moving she was going to throw it away. I got it back after the hose, wand and power nozzle were gone but the vacuum was still intact. I purchased a new hose and power nozzle and have placed the order for a direct connect wand which isn't here yet. I was gone for a few day and used the vacuum to tidy up when I got home. It was working perfectly just as it always has when the lights on the motor control went out and the vacuum stopped. Dead as a door nail. Any wild guesses were to start to get it working again?

In my experience...

this sounds like an issue with the cord rewind. Specifically, the spool has likely come away from the contacts located on the stationary part of the assembly.

Check the continuity with a wire tester first to confirm. Start by going from the plug to spade connectors in the spool, then followed by spade connectors in the spool to spade connectors on the stationary assembly. If you don't get continuity on the latter, the issue is what I've mentioned and that can be fixed easily.

Let us know what you find...

Little Pigs, Little Pigs, Let Me In

I sold Electrolux in the 1205 and Golden Jubilee days, having no issues with a tear down. I have worked on lots of store brands but never a Miele. I couldn't find an intuitive way inside the housing. I am taking the vacuum to a repair service in Seattle. Thank you for the insight so I have a better idea what to expect. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks for help.

Patient BY Update

I have been in and out of the hospital in Missouri and Washington. I finally have my car back and I'm getting out patient infusions, so................I was able to get the White Pearl to my favorite vac shop. As you predicted the cord winder was the issue. I'll get a new cordwinder, $202.oo and a recommended service $65.oo for a total of 302.oo including tax. It should be ready in a couple days. Thanks for your help and advice, you were 100% correct.
