Hello, fellow Miele canister owners!
I have a technical question I am wondering if someone can advise me on. If I am being OCD please tell me as well!
I recently purchased a S8990 UniQ Vacuum cleaner. When it arrived I unboxed it, set it up and started vacuuming with it. I understood from the manual that it came preloaded with a vacuum bag and all available filters. After an hour or so of vacuuming and trying it out I decided to pop open the bag compartment to take a look at what kind of filter it came with.
Took a look and closed it back up. I noticed that the vacuum compartment door was a little hard to close but it closed with a slight bit of force. I vacuumed some more, but was curious about the bag and went to open it again. This time I noticed that the vacuum bag was not clicked in all the way into the blue holder. I realized that the door had been a bit hard to close because of this, and that the vacuum bag itself had most likely come from the factory with the bag not seated correctly but still inserted and lid closed when I unboxed the machine.
Being a new owner I had not thought of checking for the bag to be properly seated from the factory as I assumed it would be. My question then, is there a possibility the vacuum was damaged in some way for using it a bit with the bag not inserted fully into the holder? Can there be damage by having the door closed with the bag not pushed in all the way into the holder as well?
With the bag in this condition the vacuum bag compartment itself got quite a bit dirty with dust and particles as there wasn't a tight seal between the bag and door opening. Thankfully the pre-motor filter was properly in place and seems to have caught the dirt without stuff getting through the motor.
I am still concerned the vacuum may have been hurt by this, or is there nothing to worry about.
I have since learned to push the bag all the way in and the door closes very easily now. I also noticed the vacuum is much quieter, as before it made a very slight jet engine style startup sound when powering on, and now it doesn't, powering up very quietly.
I hope I have explained this clearly and hope someone can put my mind at ease.
Thanks all.
