"Microwave Ovens - The Proven Dangers"

I think your microwave will do more damage if you dropped it on your foot than cooking your food with it.I take the microwave food issues with a big grain of salt.PeopleI have known and myself--have been cooking with our microwave ovens without any ill effects. Some for close to the length of time that tabletop microwaves have been available.

I think it depends how a person uses the microwave; some folks misuse them for unknown purposes[this post was last edited: 12/18/2014-17:59]

Guess-on YouTube "Cooking" various things-not food-in their microwave. And not keeping the door seals clean-and while using the machine-peices of paper towel or such caught in the door opening. The dirt or paper can cause MW leakage. An of course if the oven was dropped--Does the door close properly? Is it bent?

To the microwave study

I am ignoring the other childish stuff.
I call Horse Poo.
Microwaves are high frequency radio waves, not ionizing radiation. There are many studies that have been done (sorry I don't have time to reference them) in the last 50 years or so that prove microwave cooking is totally safe.

So the sky is not falling, and my coffee is getting cold so I have to go zap it for a minute.

Thanks Robert....

Im glad you stepped in on this one...The microwave issue has been debated for years,,I have one but rarely use it, mine is a 30 year old Amana...a real good old heavy built product of the USA,..im not afraid of it, but then I dont use it for cooking, just melting butter..etc, I do believe having a cell phone stuck up to your head for hours may well cause problems later in life...remember in the 50s asbestos was used almost everywhere and no one gave it a second thought.......I have an idea that induction cooking will be the next thing that is thought to cause harm...

microwaves

I have heard both ways also but I dont think there harmfull or they would have pulled them from the shelves. Merry Christmas to all PEACE ON EARTH.AND VACUUMLAND.

Not that I think microwaves are harmful, but you can't always rely on harmful things being pulled from shelves. You can still go to the store and buy cigarettes, after all.

I think HisMastersVoice is dead on! Let us just briefly consider the not so innocent spoon. It seems harmless enough, but people very much often use it to dig their own graves...one tasty bite at a time. Now, that's food for thought the next time we're all at the trough.

Not to mention those gluttonous phalanges which feed our toothless friends well nourished bodies, both plump and round....yummy for the coroner's tummy, because he gets to play with their rolls of flab!
