I have noticed that there are several members of this site in Michigan, and was wondering if anybody would be interested in having/attending a Minimeet in michigan? At this point, I'm not making any plans, or trying to set a date, just testing the waters for interest.

Dustin,

I occasionally get together with Kyle every few months for a hangout/ vac-meet type of thing. The next time we do that, we can contact you to see if you could join us. I'd be fine witht that.

Sounds good to me. I have made loose plans with kyle to get together after he finishes school so I can present him with what will be his Kenmore The helpmate (or whatever the machine is I picked up for him), and do a trade on that. He mentioned he was going to invite some other collectors over. I also know someone who has drastically downsized his collection but is non-the-less still a collector and I could ask if he'd be interested in joining a mini-meet if it comes together.

To the Michigan (Great Lakes States peeps)- This sounds great!!! Hope something can be planned and pulled off!!

Besides Kyle, who has a VERY busy schedule for a guy his age, and myself, I too know of another vac-head right here in my back yard who may be interested in a mini-meet too. He also is currently thinning out his collection, and Im sure would be glad to get rid of a few pieces to peole who had interest. I too may make a few machines available...(Great if your looking for new things for YOUR collections). I also know well another V-H from Toledo and several that are just a pleasant drive from inner Ohio as well...

The last major one was a few years back, when a gathering was had up to (petek's) house in Sarnia. Which was far easier to do when all you needed was a valid license and your birth certificate for traversing the border. Now either a passport or a special license is needed. Kinda sucky when you have neither (yet). PLUS, when you have a trunk full of vacuum's, it's hard to give an adequate explanation as to WHY they are all there to the border patrol. They do get a wee bit nervous now...

I'm sure that Pete would come if given proper notice, and maybe even Dave from Stratford. Dave has LOTS of beautiful goodies that he brings to meets so... Just a thought.

One last thing, the fellow vac-head who I know, here in the city, and I , tried to plan a small gathering last year. Alas it just seemed that either time, or lack of interest killed the plans. I soon will have my own vac-area set-up and running for meets. And while my house is small, I will be able to still pull it off/do a hosting of a mini-meet My house is just due north of Ann Arbor so it's not that bad to get to.

Maybe later in the summer?? For me if I were to host, it would HAVE to be held on a Sunday. I work every day besides that. Being a vac-shop manager leaves you little time for fun sometimes..LOL Lets see what we can shake loose with this. Keep in touch etc.
