Metropolitan Vacuums

Ive been getting the itch again to get a new cleaner. (Dangerous, I know lol)

What has caught my eye is the Metropolitan Canister with the Power Nozzle.
I'm a sucker for chrome, and this thing is basically made out of it!
Ive noticed that they are usually listed in the 500+ range, but Walmart has it for 399.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Metro vacs, this one in particular, and what you guys think of them.

I don't have one, yet but it's on the radar. They look very sharp in all the chrome goodness, way better than the picture shows.

Here's a prime example of a great product actually made in the USA that is reasonably priced, good quality, all metal construction. You would hope they sell a million of them.

But they wont, because people can buy cheap bagless vacuums for $20 in the supermarket.

I wouldn't bother with the Metropolitan if I was you. For starters, that PN they are including is the Dust Care PB11, which is a Chinese-made Eureka Express VGIII copycat. It has lots of problems with screw mounts breaking, motors dying prematurely, & the bristles the brushroll has are poor quality & wear down much more quickly than Eureka's brushroll bristles do. Also, if you look on Metro's website, it appears they are no longer including the same hose & wand set in your picture. Before, the wand set & hose you are showing was sourced from China, & there were TONS of complaints about the stiff hose. Also, I had seen one when they were selling them at The Bay dept stores here in Canada, & was unimpressed with what I saw. The canister bags were only single ply, the cloth bag it sits in was made of chintzy material, the two wheels in front were fixed- NOT casters- & the HEPA filter wasn't very large or substantial. It just seemed like they were trying to do a metal canister on the cheap & try to fool some consumers into thinking they were buying quality.

This is just my opinion, though, so best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

That power nozzle.....

Does not lay flat to the floor to get under beds and low furniture. It tilts and I agree with the last poster. It is a cheap replica of the Eureka Express Power Nozzle. I bought this power nozzle to use with another vac and I took it to goodwill.

I used to own a Metro vacuum; however, it had a different hose, wand, and power nozzle.  I really liked it.  It was very powerful (almost too powerful) and groomed to carpet quite well.  As I recall, I used Royal canister bags in it, which (I think) were multi-ply.  As noted above, it would have been nice if the front wheels were swivel casters.  But it usually followed me wherever I went!

Well it may be sad for you, JM but in the U.S prices aren't as steep and lets not forget the U.S is awash with fantastic heritage brands, which a lot of U.S buyers adore. Certainly even if it had PN problems and it was available here, I'd probably buy it.

Judged by the fact that there are plenty of cheapy supermarket kettles, not every home chooses to buy them in. Same with vacuums.

I just noticed on the "compact" model it is shown without a powernozzle in the pic.. but the description notes it comes with a power nozzle.. hmmm
