Meet Herbie the Kirby! My brand new Sentria II

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Have given the house a quick vacuum round with it. It's going to take some getting used to having a Kirby again, it currently feels like I'm driving a tank LOL
It hasn't pulled a great deal of dirt up but that's because most of our carpeting is less than 3 months old.

As stated in another thread I owned an Ultimate G Diamond Edition a number of years ago so the Kirby experience isn't totally new to me.

I'm very pleased with it and look forward to getting the optional extras to complete the system :)

Meet Herbie the Kirby

Great pictures
It really shows up the high quality of the product and makes so many of the new vacuums of today look so cheap.
That should last for a long time.

The Sentria II is a beautiful vacuum. I love mine. Though, I love the price tag on mine more than anything else. ($0)

Enjoy it for many years. I cannot think about living without my Sentria or Sentria II.

How did you check...

to see how much dirt the Sentria II picked up? Did you cut the bag open? Have you thought about getting a "dirtmeter" for Herbie?

I got a dirtmeter for my Sentria a couple of months ago. It's a great tool for seeing exactly how much dirt is being picked up in Real Time.

I like to spread some clean kitty litter on my carpet and rub it in then vacuum with my Hoover Windtunnel. Then I put the dirtmeter on my Kirby and go over that same spot to see how much kitty litter the Hoover left behind. It always amazes me to see how much more kitty litter the Kirby gets out. Of course I always put the bag back on and vacuum that spot thoroughly to make sure all the kitty litter has been removed.

Sptyks. Rub kitty litter in the carpet and run the Kirby. Then go over area with Hoover Windtuunel with a cloth or other filter in exhaust and see what the Kirby missed. Could be fun!!

Durango159:

I have done that. My Hoover is a bagless model so I don't need the cloth filter. Just looked in the bin after vacuuming with Kirby first and there were exactly 9 grains of kitty litter in there. And yes the bin was washed and filters cleaned before the test.

kirby Wonder

Hi Matt I love that machine realy like the light. I have many Kirbys in my collection I am still waiting to find the 505 Kirby. i have four or five Kirby 500 series they are very nice vacuums. I have the G,3,4,5,6,and the one i like the most the Diomand edition Two Speed. Well enjoy that Kirby Doug

My point of putting a cloth inside was to see EVERYTHING that was picked up from that spot without having it spread throughout the entire bagless chamber and filter. The Kirby dirt scope collects EVERYTHING on the one pad over a very small surface area so by putting a similar size on the Hoover you'll see EVERYTHING over a very small surface area. There's a huge difference in comparisons when doing them in the same manner.

Does Kirby make a smaller upright?

Not to my knowledge. I think some of the older models (pre Generation series) had slightly narrower power nozzles by 1 or 2 inches.

The Sentria II is currently the only model sold by Kirby. It has a nozzle width of 14 inches.
