MD SilentMaster opinion

Hi all,
I just wanna start off by saying, I know I have been posting a lot, and asking a lot of questions, but I truly feel like there is no other place to go. You guys are absolutely brilliant and know so much more than I could ever!

Anyway, I was stumbling upon my local classifieds this week and I noticed a very intriguing offer. It was a MD silent master, with the stealth powerhead kit! The really intriguing part was, it was only $350! I know from previous experience, that the stealth powerhead kit is around 600 brand new, and silent masters are extremely expensive units. My question is from the information shown do you think this would be a smart purchase? Also, if anyone could possibly identify the unit and give me the closest comparable modern unit today, I would really appreciate it! I just would like to know the specs to see how it’s performance is?

Additionally, has anyone here tired silent masters before? Are they really much quicker than the average central Vacuum, or is it just a marketing phrase?

If you could please leave any thoughts or information I would be so greatful!

That is a great price for what you are getting.
I would not hesitate to get it,.
I have the Steath powerhead myself, and they are expensive new.
Just make sure everything works when you get it.

I'd go for it. My lindhaus PB14 cost me about 220 new about 6 or more years ago. New hoses we sold at the shop for 169. I don't even know how much an S2 sold for. While these items are used I think the price is pretty good for what you're getting.

Now to answer your other question. Are they quieter? Compared to a non muffled central vac I'd say so. Now if we do compare it to other muffled centrals i'd say no. I think my Beam 2100 is quieter, and the Drainvac I had (flow through motor) definitely was.

Looks like a dual motor model. Would want to have a 110 volt AC 20 amp outlet to plug into.
Nearly 500 air watts. with two by-pass motors, combined. :-/
You'll need two separate pipes to vent it outside.

Frankly, you could get better suction with a single motor unit, imo.

But, in this package deal, the hose and power nozzle alone you could pay $350 new for. $600 you said. It's worth purchase just for that.

I would make sure the condition of the hose and pn. If they are like new, or close, I'd buy it. Even if you went with a different motor unit, you could always sell this motor unit and keep the hose and pn and still be ahead.

If you are interested, I have a new(old stock floor model from 2008) DustCare DCC-4 for sale on Ebay. It has a single by-pass motor, Lamb motor part 117500, that develops 530 airwatts. It's set up for using an easy change bag.

I would go new personally.

@gregvacs28 is right the new single motor units ,are more powerful.
