Actually the word "Ass" appears in the Bible. King James version. Always has and always will. Describes a young donkey. Probably the one that carried Mary when she was expecting.
As for Arse - it is used up in Scotland, so its not exactly "south."
American word for Station wagon is not "break" in English - the Germans use that word all the time to describe an estate car, which is what we call it in the UK.
Same with saloon, which is called sedan in America and other countries.
Not sure if America has superminis or sub-superminis under other terms. I know they have the Ford Fiesta which in Europe and UK is classed as supermini.
Emma - I must protest - you seem to think this forum is for statement based threads. It is not. It is a forum for those who express opinions and offer advice at times, or otherwise. You can rant as much as you wish, I'm not stopping you.
LIKE ALEX, I have learnt with hardship as to the joys of refurbished appliances means and in MY EXPERIENCE, not all sellers are the same. If I see an authorised dealer on EBAY or any other auction site, I am more than prepared to consider purchase over a private and independent seller who doesn't outline the usual 6 month to a year warranty that some floorcare appliances sold under the "refurbished" title provides.
I don't always see black and white; I have purchased HIFI equipment that was so-called manufacturer refurbished but the casing was scratched but the model in question was still worth the price it was listed at over a new purchase.
There are plenty of variables that this seller on EBay may come under in terms of what constitutes a refurbished slogan on a product they are selling. They may well have owned the Oreck for a short time, not used it and or rather, bought it refurbished and selling it on for some degree of profit. End of the day Alex will be covered under EBay as a buyer.
