Hi Everyone:

After several years of being bugged by numerous people who missed my old web page I've finally started to do a new web page for my collection. So far I have up Electrolux Canada, US and Europe, Goblin, Lewyt and Singer. Its nothing fancy as I'm not great with a computer but I think it will serve the purpose.

If you can add any dates to it please let me know.

It is still a work in progress so I will update this thread as I add more pages to it. Let me know what you think.

The site address is http://smithcollection.altervista.org/

Douglas, I´ve enjoyed your web page. I haven´t got enough time to watch everything but I´ll come back to see the rest of your collection. Nice job, the web page but specially the machines!. Hugs from Uruguay, Gus

Hi Collector2.

That is a wonderful website. You and I share starting our interest in vacuum cleaners at the age of about 2. I plan to spend a lot of time there, thanks for starting it.

Congratulations DOUG !

Like your new site very much and saw some great machines for the first time and - needless to say - fell in love with some of them, such as the yellow SINGER SILVER GLIDE upright cleaner !

Also it's very easy and enjoyable to visit !

Hope you will create a HOOVER index too in the future, anyway I will keep the page checked regularly !

Wish you all the best for your future museum-project !

Cheers from ITALY, Guido

Thanks Guys. Much appreciated.

I finished adding the Switson Industries page tonight and also added the one for President / Silovac / Classic / Bylock / Vactric .

Congratulations Doug!

So glad to see you have a webpage up again! I visited your old one quite frequently and have really missed it. The new one looks great so far, keep up the good work!
Jeff

Few more pages up including Germany, Holland, Japan, Phoenix mfg., Siroma Eng., and Sunbeam,

I've grouped together some of the machines under their countries of origin as I don't have more than one or two of a lot of them Eg Germany - Miele, Siemens, Vorwerk

highly entertaining!

Doug, that website gave me some new insights about things that were never clear to me. E.g. I did not know that Vactric is a Scottish company. Especially the last polisher looks very interesting. What about that small pushbutton up on the handle? Are you going to add some background info, too?

So neat to have all models complete for comparison, a feature that is missing on so many other sites.
Thanks for sharing.

(too bad I gave away my old 1940s Miele cylinder in almost "like new" condition, burgundy and chrome body, cloth bag, 400 watts, woven hose and sooo silent. 3 tools, the suction was like nowaday's Mieles on 40 - 50 % setting) Shame I had to sell it back then due to moving houses.
By now I know a better place for it ;-)

As I said in a previous thread...

I am really enjoying the machines displayed in your site...even if I suppose there are still some "works in progress" ( germany and japan still are listed as " brands " ) but I have found some very interesting and never seen before machines ! Thanks for your well done work and I will keep in touch with your new page with great pleasure !

<span style="font-size: medium; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Great Job. Wonderful collection, Doug.  John</span>

Thanks Joe, Guido, John Still about 20 more pages to go.

Last night I added a lot of the small pages (where I only have a few machines) including AirWay, Bissell, Beatty, B & D, Central Vacs, Compact, Connor, Firestone, Fairfax, Fillery, Filter Queen, and Filtex

Good point Guido - I've changed the heading from Brands to Pages

A lot of the pictures will need to be redone when I get time to dig the machines out. But that can wait till summer. At least this will be up.

I've been grouping a lot of the machines together to save web space rather than having one page for every single machine (eg: Germany, Japan, Phoenix Mfg)

Doug

Well. The web page is as finished as its going to be for a while. All 40 pages are up. I want to take new pictures of some of the machines but that will have to wait till summer.

If anyone has years for machines that they can add please let me know.

Doug
