Hello all,
Much to your annoyance, I have a 750w Hoover Purepower PU71 which I really like using, especially with microfibre bags, but knowing how knowledgable most of you guys are here I wanted to collect some maintenance tips.
I'm fully aware of the obvious, like changing bags when 2/3 full or when they literally need changing, checking for clogs in the hose or around the brushroll and also shaking the sides of the bag to bring down any clinging dirt, but what I want to ask is about filter maintenance.
Hoover have claims on their website on how to maintain filters, but I want to make sure they're correct first. First, I've seen that the filter beneath the bag needs to be rinsed out and left to dry for 24hrs or more. I've also seen claims from Hoover that the HEPA filter at the exhaust is washable. Now I'm a bit weary of that because a lot of the time (to disprove Hoover's theory that all HEPA filters are washable), you get HEPA filters from allergy cleaners or whatever that cannot be washed.
Hoover provided a video of maintaining an older Dustmanager (which really I know is the brother model to the Purepower) with a paper bag in it and also a different filter at the exhaust, and that is what is confusing me to death. So should I just replace the HEPA filter when necessary?
Thanks everyone
