An Aerus Heavy Duty upright, or any of the old Electrolux Discovery based uprights that spawned the current Aerus Heavy Duty including uprights from Pro Team and Perfect all have the belt on the far end and the suction inlet right in the center of the nozzle. There is a soft bagged upright design sold by CleanMax and Carpet Pro that has suction inlets and fans on both sides of the nozzle, basically a modern version of the old but reliable Singer Twin Fan design
I may be mistaken here but are you thinking of the Powr-flite PF62EC, and the Tornado CK LW 13/1 based of the Bissell prolite design? I know it was also sold under the Fuller brush name and even as a Pirahna. I wasn't aware they did sell them under Cleanmax or Carpet pro but it would make sense that they did. since they are also a company under the Tacony Umbrella.

I think cheesewonton is talking about one like in the attached image.
Yep. Those have the drive belt off to the side, just like an Electrolux power nozzle, and the suction inlet is dead center in the nozzle. It doesn't get any better than that. That basic design is still being made now as the Aerus Heavy Duty, and also as the Pro Team Pro Force 1500 and Perfect DM101. All three come out of the same factory with the latter two built under license to Aerus. Great designs never die.

That's the one, and I really kind of owe myself one of these for the collection. I don't use uprights that much, don't like them for the most part ( with exceptions, I am probably the only collector who is weird for the Hoover Commercial Hushtone ) but I just find the configuration of the Singer Twin Fan and it's Tacony Corp copies to be especially clever. The motor laying flat, transverse across the top with a fan on each end of the armature shaft and dual suction inlets. Nice even suction across the entire nozzle area. It's an inherently good design and one that deserves to live on. I don't say that too often about soft bagged dirty fan uprights, what I usually disparage as upwrongs, but I make an exception for the Twin Fan design.
