My Sebo Felix navy is just over 6 months old, and the exhaust filter had discoloured and stretched, and when taking it off, was black with carbon dust, so I got a replacement filter from amazon.

I had a spur of the moment however and thought to myself "as I have a new one, what would happen if I where to stick this in the washing machine ?" I was going to rinse the washer through with vinegar anyway (great tip by the way) and I had got a new filter like I said, so the worst that could happen is the filter gets ruined, but it wouldn't matter because I had a new one.

So I put it in the washing machine on a coloured cycle, with a small amount of detergent and extra rinse. It came out looking brand new, the other side was white and it has shrunk slightly so wasn't stretched. I put it on the cleaner and it went on as it did the day I got it, just done the house and it is fine. Hasn't frayed and there are no creases. I wouldn't do it too often though, but once or twice I think is fine. But yeah, so ill be using the original one until the year is up.

P.S: I did put the filter in a large net that came with the machine, that is used for small clothing item to stop them separating.

You ran a complete washing cycle just for an sebo filter?

I'd have put it in the sink to soak for an hour and some washing solution.

Never thought of doing that with the exhaust filter might try it! I do need to replace mine and the pre motor filter, not changed either yet since I had it new in 2007!!
