I took a day and visited Terry in Florida while I was on vacation. Of course he was just the best host! He had gone to a garage sale not too long ago and thought I might like these: As always he was right!!!

Anyway, even though I had other stuff I really should be doing, I just couldn't wait to get started on these two nozzles. The other Lux nozzle thread inspired me.

First up is the before pictures of the XXX WWII plastic nozzle.

BTW, there are a lot of pictures here.......

Pic.4.

Unlike the nozzle on the first thread.....this one has grey bumper material. As the old stuff crumbled away, I could see that it was once the color that appeared on the later, sleek looking XXX/LX nozzles. So, in keeping with "authenticity" I died the donor bumpers to match the old ones.

Pic. 6.

Now, the swivel connector. I just assumed it was darkened with age. As I attempted to clean it up, it was revealed that it was actually painted a dark grey. So was the attaching plate!

Gift nozzle #2. (Need help with this one).....

Before pictures of nozzle number two. I am hoping this is either a Lux model V or XI rug tool. I have both machines, but not a tool to go with either of them.

Leaving the mystery nozzle.....

and returning to the XXX WWII unit....clean up time! I wanted to point out here, that time and temperature had done a number on this early plastic. It had changed shape over the years. It had become "disfigured" and.......SHRUNK!!!

Mystery nozzle after....

rear view. It polished up pretty good. Really has some deep imperfections though.

Any help with the identification of this nozzle would be greatly appreciated!

I know back and forth....back and forth......

XXX WWII nozzle re-assembly. You can really see in this picture how the front of the nozzle has curved over time.

It was a real challenge getting this thing back together.

Having changed shape, the plastic no longer wanted to go where it was supposed to. I could barely get the screw holes to line up!
