Hi Gary
The Electrolux model 62 was made from 1957-59. If I remember correctly it was their first machine to have the option of disposable paper bags. From the picture it appears to be pretty much complete. The only thing I don't see is the small nozzle and instruction book.

I have added a few extra from listing. (Thanks to seller) Everything is there and seeing these in this type of condition is super rare indeed. Being used for the purpose intended most of these have not survived the ages intact or original. I honestly believe this particular example has not had much use at all in it's lifetime.
It is a rare treat for any collector. I love the 1950s and have a few kitchen items in daily use yet pristine still. I see many vintage Lux models online that have parts missing or replaced. Many occasions the hose is different or badly damaged.
I view your extensive and amazing collection often and I must say it is a labour of love and enthusiasm. I love that you have a few British models that I know well.

I had not long bought my first pc and signed up for ebay and paypal, 2007? when I spotted a near mint 62. your hose is just that bit better (envious!!) I stripped it down and serviced it. it runs well. I have all the tools including unused; crevice nozzle, sprayer with bottle of shampoo, boxed turbo polisher with tin of polish and rug insert.
A very stylish cleaner last appearing in the WHICH magazine of April 1960 and being given a high score (where still available) only beaten by the all new z65 which offered as quoted: " the convenience of dual action tools".
I have lux models: 5,10,11,12,16,18,25,55,60,norvac,65s(early(NIB) and late versions) 65, Z80(NIB) Trident 156, volta 130(mint and boxed).
YES I LOVE PRE 1970 LUXES!!!!
I have many other vintage vacs in my collection...….106 in total including the contempary house machines.

My disappointment made me more determined to find one someday. That day finally came and hopefully it will arrive today or tomorrow as was dispatched before Easter holidays.
My previous account was hoover119dude but not remembering the password could not log in. Had been away for a few years and it slipped my mind. I decided to open a new ID as I always had a space in my heart for the Lux models. I was moving to a studio flat so had to sell the vacs as there was no room to keep them and storage units are costly.
The only other vac I have is a Hoover 375 that is white, black and grey so was a rebuild possibly 60s. If my home was bigger it would have been possible to keep all of them. I have had so many over the years but am sure they went to good homes and part of collections.
My favourite decade is the 50s so this Lux along with the many small appliances I have my flat will look great in time. I also have an old radio coming in few days from 1950s as well. My passion is in old vacs but space issues will keep me from acquiring any but I find myself still looking online and here looking at other collections as it is great to see what others have. Some collections are fantastic.
It is nice to hear from collectors here as we are few compared to the U.S. I lived there for many years so am familiar with most of their vac models. It would be great to have meetings like they do as would be so good to meet others with the same interests. If you are at a loose end sometime you can email me as it would be great to stay in touch with others.

Your lux Z80 (MIB) sounds like the one I saw on ebay a few years back. I knew it would go for a good price but I did not have the funds then to bid. The seller stated that their aunt had purchased it new and never took it out of box. Why that happens I might never know as they were expensive back then.
My mother had the same model purchased in 1966 at Currys in Southbourne. She said it was top of the range when purchased.
As far as Lux models go my Z-62 and your Z-80 are my favourite British models. They really were the best cylinder cleaners around at those times. Modern vacs just don't have the looks or appeal as the oldies.
I guess companies don't need to rely on looks or appeal anymore which is obvious as modern vacs have neither. They work well for a short time then then to the tip they go. I honestly don't see any collectable value in them at all no matter how hard I try. They are not made very well so I can't see them surviving the ages like the old ones.
I love my 62!! It is one handsome fella indeed!! It has survived the years practically mint and looks great!!

Yes my 80 is that very machine. A very naught but very nice indulgence. I was eight years old when the 80 superseded the 65. I remember the 100 on the market but not the 80? Short production run (1967-9) when it was replaced by the first version of the 94 which had the same floor/carpet nozzle but a 550 watt motor, 50 watts higher than the 80.
I share your feelings about modern cleaners; even lux quality was dropping towards the late 1970s.
The last really good lux cylinder was the 350E; mid 1980s?.
We have two lux upright twin turbo Z1070A (the last of the 500 format) which with basic regular maintenance run well, as it was a good overall design. Both were bought in an argos sale in 1995.
By the way, I sent you an email did you receive it as I have been experiencing difficulties with my emails being received?

Congratulations, Gary. That's a sharp looking all-original ensemble! The light gray & dark green is quite attractive. I admire how many consumers in past decades took care of their belongings and obviously kept their homes ship-shape as evidenced by such complete sets of vintage items. Wasn't it worth the wait?!
I've never seen a dusting brush like the one in your photo.
Is it equipped with an air filter? If not, are those easy to obtain, or was the design changed too many years ago?

I added a pic from instruction book to show how filter is installed. I also have a new never used included in the purchase. I am reluctant to use it as they are virtually impossible to find I'm sure.

The dusting brush is unusual now you mention it. I don't know of any other model having this other than the Australian version colour(blueberry & wine). Maybe it was made just for this model? Not entirely sure. Maybe someone might else know more?

...a cone for close cleaning without scratching/marking.
First seen on the z30 of 1948, then the junior model electrux 48, z55, the junior model z60 to the z62 and finally the early version of the junior model z64 the senior model being the z65 until the TOTL became the z90 in 1965-67.

That is a beautiful machine and very complete.
Only enough I am currently taking apart the motor of a Za55 which is basically the same machine save some trim and other updates

Hopefully you can post pics when done. I like the covering on the z55. I saw one on ebay a few weeks back all complete and original which is rare now.
I don't know why but they did not survive the ages as well as other models. Almost always the hose was a replacement or the name on one side was always missing or different attachments. When I do see the original hose it is always badly frayed. I guess the quality was not as good as later models. With those the hose is usually intact.

You're welcome for the list; I thought you'd appreciate it. I, for one, wish it went to 1998, the year that AB Electrolux and Lux International dissolved their nearly 80-year union. Since that time, of course, AB Electrolux has used entirely different styles as Lux had been its surface care division.
I'd never had an interest in Electrolux across the pond until reading posts like yours with photos, background, and stories. So thank you for sharing!
I like both color combinations of the Z62; although, "blueberry & wine" sounds more appealing than ivory & green (albeit one could think of it as something such as "vanilla & creme de menthe"
! I'm guessing that using two different color sets instead of one was necessary to keep parts from getting mixed together. Our U.S. affiliate seems to have most often used color changes of the same model to indicate upgrades or changes.
Comparing and contrasting is one of my interests, so I appreciate your pointing out the different styles of crevice tools between the two countries' versions of the Z62. Regarding the unique dusting brush, perhaps it was a trial production that failed the test; or maybe another design was more cost effective such as the combination dusting brush/upholstery tool.
