Not sure about the Legacy, but I have an Epic 6500, which, so far as I know, is exactly the same vac, and air does escape through the handle. Not sure if they designed it that way, but that machine produces quite a bit of heat, and the big "tool garden" sits on top of the exhaust, with only a relatively small opening in it.

The Epic 6500- Legacy models always remind me of a hearse. Maybe that's just the funeral director coming out in me.

I love any Aerus Electolux products, Have a Lux central, Legacy, Diamond Jub, xxx ,AF , floor pro and guardian air...Love the look of the new Ultra.

6500 Hearse

Now you mention it, it does look somewhat like a hearse; bigger and wider in the "ass", and tapered downward towards the front. Truth be told, they went to an awful lot of trouble adding the big top/rear end just to accommodate the crevice tool, when the combo tool clipped on to the top of the older ones anyway. Kind of a waste of plastic.

At least the long crevice tool is stored onboard on the Epic 6000/Epic 6500 style canisters

The 2100/Diplomat/Ambassador/Lux Classic style have storage clips for the combo duster tool & short crevice tool

Older metal canisters have a storage clip only for the combo tool; but no place to store the crevice tool

some of the older metal lux's had an additional clip at the end where you would put the combo dust brush that would also hold a small crevice tool.
